    Thinking About a Boat

Yes the twin 4.3 are counter rotating. Unlike aircraft engines the engines spin the same direction (RH) but they change the prop direction in the out drive gearing. Bill sounds like our boats are identical as far as rpm vs speed at cruise power. The one thing about the twin v6 is they are...

    Thinking About a Boat

Since there isn't many twins out there I had to start from scratch selecting the perfect props. The factory selected 3 blades 14" diameter 19pitch slipped to much below 32mph with 6 pax. After trying 4 sets of props ended up with turning point 4 blade 17p stainless. 45mph but will hold plane...

    Thinking About a Boat

Ya mean a 270 sundancer just like mine? With twin 4.3 210hp a side, generator and A.C.? With a new aluminum triple axle? Great boat. 46mph top end. But cruise at 30mph on 7.7gph a side! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    LOP IO-360

I pulled the GAMI injectors out of my IO-360 mooney as we couldn't make them run right, even at gami headquarters they couldn't make them run right. The injector is concave at the bottom and whenever going though peak, only at WOT, the air bleed hole at the side of the injector behind the...

    Auto Oil For Aircraft Engines

Tom this isn't true, the majority of aircraft owners add oil between oil changes. Maybe your equipment is superior to others but most burn a couple or more between oil changes. Bs? Your quick to spout off... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Multi viscosity or straight weight oil?

The additive package in Exxon Elite is very small in comparison to camguard. If you email Ed Collins, technical director of cam guard he can tell you the difference but it was somthing like pennies of additive per at vs $1 per qt cost difference. But if your having luck with what your doing no...

    Auto Oil For Aircraft Engines

Ed wrote somthing about why Diesel oil would be TERRIBLE as one of the components used, I believe it was Zinc in high levels would create deposits in the combustion chamber. The problem with eliminating 100ll only solves 1/2 the problem as the relatively high amounts of oil legacy aircraft...

That was it. What do you think? Do the experts agree? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Auto Oil For Aircraft Engines

I offered some advice/ info on somthing (if memory serves me) that Ed Collins previous head chemist for shell and now Camguard told me. I didn't hear any comments about that? Is the OP really looking for answers or to stir the crap with this Tom dude? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Auto Oil For Aircraft Engines

Thought the reason is the oil is Ashless and since our engines have large tolerances and burn a considerable amount of oil the Ashless doesn't contribute to combustion deposits which can lead to hot spots and ultimately detonation/preignition. Also the dispersant helps suspend lead. Sent...

    Mooney Ovation

Yep most people forget that the same weight in fuel in a ovation will take the plane 35-40% further than other brands so less fuel can be carried allowing more weight for butts and bags. Especially in the J model. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Mooney Ovation

So the pilot doesn't know how to operate the engine properly or the mechanic isn't aware that continentals suffer from intermittent low compression and a top is rarely necessary but some mechanics falsely believe if one cylinder needs a overhaul all cylinders should be changed. Not a fault of...

    New Mooney Acclaim

Almost zero maintenance, sure rides a little stiffer on the ground but unless you plan on driving the plane to the destination it's a mute point. Simple, light and less upkeep and cost....sure silly...I guess. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Gas - how low can it go?

Like this one in my truck with 75' of hose? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. A

Hey mogas user, how do you get your gas to the field?

100 gallon fuel tank. 75' of hose as I use it for the boat also. Now it's all under a topper now with a solar vent in topper to continually vent air out. Tank is sealed and vent is run out under pickup, so no venting of fumes into topper. Auto shut off nozzle, digital flow meter, 15gpm...

    Another Cirrus Parachute "Save" 12/29

Is the restart after tank run dry procedure complicated in a cirrus? Also why the 10gallon fuel imbalance limitation? Is this because of the chute? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Multi viscosity or straight weight oil?

Ya I like camguard, in fact Ed Collins was the one who told me first about how multi weight protect better. He actually asked a question to a group at a mooney summit and I answered wrong and said straight weight. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Multi viscosity or straight weight oil?

Tim I don't know anyone who has done this or not changed their oil after doing so. Sorry if what I posted was misleading for you somehow. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Multi viscosity or straight weight oil?

Nope I don't want my oil anywhere near 300f. I guess what I was getting at is multi weight protects better at higher temps. There isn't any auto mfg that still use straight weight cause it just doesn't offer the benefits of straight weight. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
