Assuming you can get a medical, you really should look at going private. You can do so much more with it and while I don't know for sure I would bet you won't save as much as you might think by going light sport.

The Rans S-20 (and others models) is definitely worth a look. Don't know how tall OP is but I definitely fit more comfortably in a Rans than a Kitfox. I'm 6'3" though so that tends to be more of an issue for me than most.

I'm 6'3" with a fairly long torso and have no problem being comfortable even with a seat that isn't height adjustable. I routinely fly with a 6'5" friend and he has no problems either.

I don't open them fully in flight, I close them down to about an inch or a little less as part of my pre takeoff checklist and that configuration provides plenty of ventilation even in 100 degree heat once you get rolling. There are triangular windows that do open and will direct a ton of air into the cabin as soon as you start the engine. They can also be opened in flight up to 120 kts which keeps things cooler than most light singles and its asking a lot for my 68' to exceed 120 so I just open them and leave em :).

I do this frequently and I think it makes for a simpler approach. One thing I do if i'm flying a low wing though is pause my turn for a second in the middle of the curve and dip the outside wing to check for anyone making an unannounced straight in.
