    Asked another way... I set my altimeter to the B pressure that's given to me by ATIS for whatever airport. So now my altimeter reads that fields elevation, yes? But I'm say at 5,000 AGL?

    Question about setting the altimeter while in the air... If I set the altimeter to the pressure at my home field and read the field elevation +- 75', then as I approach my destination (at 3,500') that's say 2,000' higher than my home field elevation and reset the altimeter to pressure that ATIS...

    Those are some cool old pics. My father was in the Air Force and we were stationed at Peterson Field in the late 60's. He actually worked on the city block known as Ent Air Force base. The sonic boom had not yet been outlawed and those would rattle the windows in the base housing we lived in.

    New to flying...again

    I'm in exactly the same situation. Got my ticket in 1987 and didn't really fly much after that. I've had 3 training flights with an instructor and hope to take my check off ride today. I also plan on getting my Instrument and Commercial tickets.
