    GA pilot decline

warning - generalization ahead: a lot of the up and coming generations are not equipped mentally and emotionally to make effective decisions. It wouldn’t matter what regulations were lifted, we are now a population with a different mindset- one that grew up with less action/consequence...

    Nashville...

Tune to Downtown is a much easier route than Smyrna. If you fly the southern straight-in approach or departure to/from Tune, be sure and wave 2 miles out. We’re always waving back. Best flavor in the gulch is “The Little Octopus” (garden-based dishes) - avoid Bar Louie in the gulch - worst...

Commercial Flights crossing paths - Waaaaay to close for comfort

so... I was on a flight today - and at one point during the flight, I opened my shade to look out. It had been a gorgeous sunset at FL39, and city lights were coming into view when the clouds broke. The pilot was making some talk about initial approach on the intercom, when I saw a plane fly...

Harrison Ford doin' some bush landings

In the written timeline by CNN, he tipped a treetop comes first. ... then he suffered serious injuries after he was forced to land after its engine failed. ... subtle, but leaves the illusion that, instead of an engine failure, he tipped a treetop and that was the start of the chain of...

Harrison Ford doin' some bush landings

notice the "amended" timeline by CNN on the WWII trainer incident. -from this article. "Over a decade later, while flying a two-seat, single-engine 1942 military trainer, Ford tipped a treetop and skidded down onto Penmar Golf Course near Santa Monica Airport in 2015. He suffered serious...

    Uber Users-What say you?

I've used Uber in all of our major cities and all over Europe. I'm thankful that it exisits. I don't like that they pinch drivers - but the ride experience has been 90%+ positive... whereas taxi rides are probably ~40% positive.

    Plane crash video in Australia

I was right around the corner. The park and the entire river bank was LOADED with partiers. I have a few friends who saw it, but they said the video pretty much shows it all. 2 planes were flying - 1st made a touch & go... you know the story on the 2nd. In that 2nd video, it looks like the...

Cirrus Engine Out: Didn't Pull Red Handle

"according to the pilot, 'we were fortunate that I had just installed an ACME AoA indicator. Just a casual glance after we lost our #1 engine, and I was able to know for certain that the gear would shear off clean, and we would slide to a stop close enough to the edge of the cliff to have a...

    Musicians...

Playing notes is about developing a skill and gaining knowledge... being a musician is about having "big ears". In general, the drummer is going to drive. He/she sets the tempo and defines the pocket. If your drummer is actually doing this, it sounds like your guitar player was not...

Plane Crash in CT - intentional?

I am sorry for the family's loss and for the CFI's injuries. A struggle in the cockpit is a lot like airspeed and approaching terrain. What must be done is often counter-intuitive. It is almost always a losing battle to struggle over control. You incapacitate the offending party. It is...

    No APU....

Ha! - so kind.... - because I know what an APU is, and I know what it does, but I do (did) not know its role on any checklists of a 717-200. if that doesn't work try... bored, and curious - knowing there is a wealth of knowledgable folks at my fingertips on POA. That is all.

    No APU....

Sitting on a B717-200. ... waiting to push back and the pilot comes on and lets us know that this aircraft doesn't currently have a functional APU, so they will start the enginges at the gate... blah bla blah. hmmm.... I'd like an APU on our flight. Is it a big deal on 717-200s?
