I generally fly out of KBHM (a Class C) and was always trained to complete my run-up on the taxi way right before entering the runway at the hold short line. So that is the only Class C airport that I have currently flown in and out, so I have always done it the same way. On non-towered...

I have to agree that this is a good idea. My instructor did allow me but only after I could prove the other way. However, once you use the iPad, and there is no going back to the paper methods. One thing I think about is that after a while, you forget how to use the paper method!

Thanks for the response. I can appreciate that you need at least ten hours a month to even consider it. As of now, I know that I will not get more time than that and I had always heard that you need at least a 100 hours a year to consider buying...but it sounds like you really need a lot more...

I am a newer pilot...still asking basic questions! I trained at a class C airport and airways had to contact Clearance Delivery, Ground, Tower and then departure. So I allow myself to doubt procedure when leaving a non-towered airport. It always seems a little strange that I am not talking...
