    The day has finally come....

My engine is the original from 1965. It was overhauled by Zephyr in 1998, so the next time would be the third run. It has 1100ish hours right now. It's too old for a trade. You don't think the case is any more prone to issues than a case half its age? I'm just weighing my options when my...

oil leak; prop seal opinion wanted.

If it is, it's so little that it's hard to tell. I can get a fine mist on the case in that area, but no runs. The only noticeable accumulation is in the flywheel. I do remember looking at the old logs, and they used the same crankshaft seal that I inserted, so it wasn't oversized. Anyway...

oil leak; prop seal opinion wanted.

This is an older picture. The leak is much less than this, but it's the same general location. The oil pools inside the hub to the flywheel. It seems like there may be streaks coming from the forward part of the hub like it may be coming from the prop hub, but I'm really not sure how airflow...

oil leak; prop seal opinion wanted.

I wondered about that. How bad were your leaks? The last IA tries to measure but he couldn't get his calipers on the crank by the seal. The arms to his gauge were too short . I looked in the logs and couldn't find any mention of an oversized crank .

oil leak; prop seal opinion wanted.

I've had the crankshaft seal replaced a few times on my mooney (lycoming O360). It's much improved, but I'm still getting small amounts. I was looking at some pics I took at the last repair. I don't have much personal experience, so I was wondering what you thought of the crankshaft. Are...

For Sale: Aircraft Five planes for sale (last post ever)

When I saw the thread title, I thought you were mad about something. I live in an Air Force city, and I think military is a great way to go. Good luck with the Marines!

Anyone gone back to a passive headset after using noise cancelling?

As far as wearing passives, they are so uncomfortable to my ears after extended periods of time. I keep a set in my plane just in case the Bose batteries die on me mid flight.

still chasing oil leak near prop. opinions appreciated.

I'll check again .It looked like the leak was coming from the crank seal .Could a leaking o-ring cause oil to push back towards the rear seal?

still chasing oil leak near prop. opinions appreciated.

thanks for that, but I just had my prop sent off for repairs. It had grease leaking out of the hub. It's ironic but my oil leak started after the prop was repaired.

still chasing oil leak near prop. opinions appreciated.

I replaced the crankshaft seal and o-ring in December. It was a split seal. It seemed to help but still getting oil leak. Took it back and they inspected it but didn't replace it. Flew it for 10-12 hours with no change. I just had it replaced with a solid seal by another IA, and it seems to...

New To Flight Following - Questions?

It's been a while since I did VFR flight following, but mine rarely showed up on flightaware. My IFR flights always show, and now I get notifications when I fly and don't file; it's linked to my ADSB. They actually can track my plane without filing a flight plan of any sort.

prop seal changed, still seeing oil. normal?

Thanks, everyone. I've decided to fly it a few more hours and see if I keep finding oil. I'm going to have someone local do it this time. By the time you factor in getting a ride to drop off the plane and going back to get it, there's a few hundred dollars worth of fuel involved every time...
