    Bad news

Congrats! Not to spoil the upcoming write-up, but....how long did you spend at the Regional? I'm entertaining the idea of flying commercially when I retire from the military in 2022. You know, for something different to do... ;) Cheers, Brian

    best weather source

To get aviationweather.gov, you're either flying down low for cell reception or you have some really powerful towers nearby... I've never gotten cell service above 7,000' which is where I normally cruise, at least not in my area. I have both XM (696) and FIS-B via Stratus 3 (iPad). I...

    Twin recommendation

Yea, not so much. My commercial SEL didn't drop my insurance on the Bonanza one bit. Getting the IFR ticket will drop your rates more than the commercial will. When I sold the Bo and bought the Travel Air, my insurance went up by $900 for the year with 18 hours TT MEL. With over 200 hours...

Christmas Came Early in Kerrville, TX - Mooney is Open Again

Christmas came early for Mooney employees. :) Wonder who the "additional investor" is? https://dailytimes.com/promotions/article_f44f402c-153a-11ea-960f-3b4021e27776.html Cheers, Brian

Is it bad to send pictures of an airplanes log books?

If a seller isn't willing to send digital scans or photos of the logbooks, I'm certainly not willing to jump on an airline to go see the aircraft in person - don't care how much the seller thinks of their plane and the "you just have to see it to appreciate it" type (and they are out there....)...

    Air Wagner..... He’s baaaaackk.

And the video is private again.... I just hope this guy stays on the west coast. I don't ever want to run into the pattern with this dude. I feel bad for you guys out there that run the risk of "running" into this piece of art..... I'd like to know what CFI/II gives this...

    Petroleum Service Company?

Well slap me silly. Aviation Oil Outlet is......wait for it.....a Division of PSC. Same damn company at the end of the day, but two totally separate shipping policies. Same address listed in Wilkes-Barre, PA for both sites....Go figure..... :rolleyes...

    Petroleum Service Company?

Last time I checked, $54.94 for a case of regular X/C 20w-50 at PSC still beats the $63.18 price at Aviation Oil Outlet. Even the Victory version is cheaper at PSC....you’d have to buy two cases to get the free shipping, so it’s a wash at the end of the day when buying multiple boxes. :dunno...

    My New To Me Aztec

No, just had it on my short list of candidates when I was moving from our Bonanza to a twin. I had access to an Aztec in the D.C. area and liked everything about it so I added it when I was doing my "shopping." Got lucky when my current Travel Air basically fell into my lap when the previous...

    My New To Me Aztec

Congrats on the Aztec purchase. I had been looking at that one for awhile, but decided the turbo's weren't needed since I hate flying with O2 unless it's really, really necessary. Best of luck and you'll love flying with two engines purring out there (at least I do...:happydance:)....that...

    My New To Me Aztec

I really liked my NGT-9000 too until the touch screen decided to stop working 8 months after being installed on an IFR flight in my previous Bonanza (it was a new unit). No way to change transponder codes once that happened and recycling the power didn't help. I went with the Stratus ESG in...

The ‘What’s in your panel’ thread

Simple and gets the job done. :) I use an iPad Mini on the control wheel. Cheers, Brian

Massport found a way to effectively kill GA at BOS

Wow, that's interesting to hear about SLC. GA has basically their own runway on the East side where the FBO's and hangars are located. What kind of stupid are they selling there these days to make this even come close to making any sense? :( Sad day for sure if that happens. Brian

    Mooney or Cardinal?

Congrats with the decision and pre-buy. Who's doing the inspection for you? If it's not a Mooney Service Center or someone that is really familiar with older Mooney's, at least have them use this checklist as a minimum. LASAR is a highly respected Mooney maintenance shop out in California and...

    Mooney or Cardinal?

I owned a 1967 M20E for 9 years and would flight plan 155 KTAS on 9 gph running LOP between 8-9K. Never had an issue finding maintenance in any of the places I called home across the country. I miss that plane at times, usually when I pull up to the gas pump...;) Cheers, Brian

    Red taxi line

That area is the designated TSA SIDA area on the ramp. Closest thing I've found is a draft AC from ~12 months ago. At some point, I'm sure it'll get published, but I've known a couple pilots that got stopped for crossing that line, especially at joint civilian-military airfields. Bottom line...

Just saw a Max on the scope

Sure enough....2 of them no less. Ferry flights to avoid the winter in Montreal maybe? https://flightaware.com/live/flight/ACA2359/history/20190916/1631Z/CYUL/KMZJ https://flightaware.com/live/flight/ACA2329/history/20190916/1713Z/CYUL/KMZJ Looks like they're moving their fleet, same flight...

Just saw a Max on the scope

Interesting. This article still had them listed as a possibility by the end of the year - that was only 5 days ago. https://gulfnews.com/business/aviation/boeing-737-max-could-be-phased-back-into-service-by-regulators-ceo-1.1568218801549 Brian
