    Pilot Wanted

@AggieMike88 , nopers. I'd be very interested in the gig from a flight-time, new-aircraft, long xc mission standpoint. But then again, I'm not trying to make a living in aviation.

    Pilot Wanted

I emailed - and almost fit. He passed on me because he wants somebody with more actual time (comfortable doing lower approaches) and G1000 familiarity. It'd be a great gig for a local CFI who needs more XC time in newish planes. And no, they're not all factory new, some have several hundred hours.

Pulling the trigger and starting training

@Joshua Swanson , where in the country are you? $6-10K is normal most places. Cessna 152 is cheapest plane to fly, about $100/hr, instructor about 40. Twice-weekly (or more) lessons, same plane same instructor is cheapest route.

Pulling the trigger and starting training

Welcome! National average is 70 hours of flying for a PPL. If you can do it in one go, that's the way. Spreading it over a longer period is way spendier. Have you found an airport near you and spent time there? Doors open more easily when you're knocking, standing in front of them. Get to...

1973 Cessna 172M Clean and low time

Nah, I'd give you $30K without those upgrades. :)

    First night lesson prep?

Get two headlamps while you're at it. And if needed, learn how to dim your GPS screen beforehand.

Anyone want to split some multi engine time ?

I'm out in that time period, but it might be worth mentioning what plane and the rental rate?

    Step 2 - Tailwheel, Complex/HP or Sea?

@Fearless Tower , call Tim at KT Aviation, near Bangor. He's a CFI and a DPE, so you'll need to work out a second DPE to do the ride. There's only one other DPE in the state who can do those checkrides, I think, and he's near Portland. It's the world's only Apache on floats - might be reasonably...

    Pilot Workshops scenario training

I love these guys. I did all the modules they had during IFR training. Super helpful. http://www.pilotworkshop.com/video/approach-gone-bad/pw/watch

Ok...I must be missing something (PnP)

You can join beforehand - I did - and then just update the office when you hit 350. On the website back end, you get a sense of the flights, etc. My last was Bangor to Boston - I really enjoyed the IFR-into-Bravo workload. And I enjoyed the free parking at Logan.

Ok...I must be missing something (PnP)

Neil, here's a fave of mine that I find very easy to navigate: Patient Airlift Services. Many many missions weekly, most in NY/MA. http://palservices.org/

Do you prefer being on top or bottom?

@Cajun_Flyer - you're spot on. I'm instrument rated and current - and would still think twice in that situation. I'm thinking of embedded storms, icing, a prolonged cross country hard IFR into building cumulus, and my 172's service ceiling. I believe you're right about the other pilot's...

Anyone flying to Bimini this weekend MYBS

klaus@airlinkconnection.com. 954 247 8222. He runs a charter from Lauderdale. He's back in Maine now, but he'll know many of the pilots who make that run. Uber driver can get the part delivered to the charter pilot for cheap. In your shoes, I'd buy two or three. :)
