    ForeFlight 10 announced

Well my iPad is downloading it at the moment, curious to take a look. Oddly the release note on the Apple store version history is “Bug Fixes”

    Cessna 182 vs 177

I've just got back from a run down the east coast and back in my 177RG. There was a 182 following the same route of flight for one of the legs and we appeared reasonably matched in speed/performance with the RG being just fractionally faster. Personally I prefer the 177 for the sportier look...

    Sun and Fun 2018 (Weather)

I'm currently in Charleston, SC. Weather stopped me flying down today, then a small maintenance issue cropped up. Hopefully I'll get that fixed and get down there for a day before heading back North.

    Aspen E5

I have a Pro PFD and love it, but I don't think I could justify that cost with some of the newer products now available on the market. Aspen has some very interesting upgrade paths (SV, AOA etc), but they are expensive and I'm not sure I want to buy in even further at this point. Their...

This joker is lucky to be alive!

The other video (now been taken down) was about how hard it was to get off the ground and climb, and how he had to make a swift move to avoid the power lines on the climbout.

    How your electric flaps work

I had a problem in the Cessna where the micro switch casing was cracked, and the flaps would occasionally not retract. It wasn't until the casing crack turned into a full break and a chunk fell out of the plastic casing that the flap retraction failed consistently.

Looking for an iOS photo uploading app

I use PhotoSync. There's a good range of file transfer options. Cost is a few dollars. It has a Geofencing feature so uploads are triggered when I get home. https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/photosync-transfer-photos/id415850124?mt=8

    ocd trigger thread

I appreciate that the cover of this book uses 3 different typefaces. I wonder if that increased or decreased sales?

    Plastics Repair

Depends on how bad it is, for small breaks and cracks I used modelers fiberglass cloth and bind it across the crack using superglue or similar. Then use a lightweight filler (bondo or similar) on the front to fill the gap, sand and paint. Larger cracks and gaps need more reinforcement and backing.

    Vividia borescopes

I bought one of those earlier in the year expecting a pretty poor quality picture, but the picture quality had me quite surprised. In fact my local shop went out and bought one after seeing the picture quality. It's not HD, but it is good and clear enough to see what you need to.

10 Airplanes to own or that you like

Cessna Cardinal RG Extra 400/500 Cessna 210 (P or Silver Eagle preferably) MU-2 (with a lot of recurrent training) Bonanza A-36 Diamond DA-62 Cessna 414 Wow, the list is shorter than I expected.

Who else thinks Southwest retired planes too early?

Are you suggesting that this would be more cost efficient than their current approach, or just more elegant? It is rare that those two optimization options align.

    Suggestion - kids headset

My (now 11) daughter still uses a David Clark youth set which both fits and works well. I think it can be converted to an adult set later, too. Although not certain about that.

Anybody installed Trio or Tru Trak in Cessna yet?

Clark, from what I understand that was an FAA requirement to simplify the certification.im curious to know whether those additional interfaces will be added over time.

    Blank email from Jeppesen

It's a renewal reminder. I get them every year too, and have e-mailed customer service about it each year. Their response could be reasonably summarized as "that was your subscription reminder e-mail. What didn't you understand about the blank contents, you idiot?" Market choice is a wonderful...

GNS 480 (CNX 80) End of Service Life

I've heard the 480 is a big of a pain with traffic as it's hard to silence in busy airspace. I love mine. It makes IFR flying, especially around the New York area with bendy airways and frequent reroutes very simple. I hear the 650/750 has some of that built into it too, now.
