Yes another "Looking for my first plane thread"

The speed difference between a Dakota and Toga are pretty close, guessing within 10-15kts? The difference would be the Toga's heavier handling at slow/approach speed. Dollar for dollar, look at your 5 and 10 yr mission then make a purchase that will get you there.

    Portable intercom

Purchased the DC when I was flying a Cub, really didn't need it but back then just felt that with out Intercom and handheld, I was flying nekid (was flying in the south back then). Haven't used it since, but worked well the few times someone flew with me.

ANOTHER..... "Want to buy a plane thread"

You'll get a lot of great advise on the board with different eyes. If it's really going to be a keeper... the Toga would be perfect. But, like boats, every A/C model has it's own attributes and warts. Just know them both, and plan to fly conservatively for the first year or two. WX is always...

Can Mooney and Cirrus save General Aviation?

Mooney came out with a pressurized version in the 60's, M22... Looked kinda boxy, but they were ahead of their time back then. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mooney_M22_Mustang

Can Mooney and Cirrus save General Aviation?

20 years ago there use to be what I'd call 'traveling sales' people that would fly the new stuff around. Ran in to one guy on the ramp in what was then a brand new Mooney, must have been the first Bravo. It was really something to see. And the guy was very friendly, and extremely knowledgable -...

Levils new stuff - ADS-B and more - neat design

Technology and easier PMA standards will hopefully keep competition's accelerated pace moving before the deadline. It has really been interesting to see the range of new products come out for GA. Just saw this: http://www.avweb.com/videos/TKMs-KX155-Radio-Replacement-228812-1.html After...

    Gap seal rubber strip issue

If you cannot pull the entire strip towards trailing edge of wing and trim, sometimes you can 'work' or massage the bubble back into the groove pushing on either side to make room. Takes some time and considerable patience

What's the fascination with a Cub?

Tailwheel sign off in a Cub, and loved every hour of flying it. It was actually a WagAero Cubby with a Cont. O-200 (does that count?), and would jump off the ground even in wet grass. So far as handling, it definetly made a better student pilot out of me. Low and slow, the only way to fly them.

    Electric fuel pump design/failure modes

Was thinking about this warning (flagged on my unit that is out for overhaul). Since we drained the fuel sump and lines to remove, how do you avoid running dry on initial start up after reinstalling?

just seems that there's more of this going on in the recent past than I can remember...flying into CDK, you gotta stick-it on the numbers.
