FAA shut down my 3M aircraft graphic film.

Totally agree @camorton - I've met both kinds. I much prefer the common sense approach and even better if he'll let me R&R the spark plugs, oil & air filters, and remove the inspection panels and interior for him. He too has a line out the door waiting to get into his shop and I fear the day...

Who here plays a musical instrument?

What a coincidence for me. I played french horn for years thru college. Now 35 years on I just bought a single F horn for $70 at a local auction and on the first blow produced a passable note. I have a beginners book entitled "I used to play Horn" on a stand next to me as I type this...

New owner? Should only take 2 1/2 hours, 2 trips to Harbor Freight and some skinned knuckles. Voila, problem solved!

    2100 SMOH 0-300, thoughts?

Thanks Tom! What if it's running well, but you have 1 or 2 cylinders with low comps? That's my point - replace them, inspect the items you call out above (not in that order) and keep on trucking. . .

    2100 SMOH 0-300, thoughts?

I have an O-300 that's @100 hrs past TBO so, vested interest. Low compressions are a sign of cylinder issues, not engine problems by themselves right? I can (and have) replace jugs that have worn rings/low comps so long as there's no metal in the filter from engine parts and oil pressure stays...

Cross Country Help - Florida to California

Nice! I'm typically 115 mph indicated (100 kts). Just for reference, on my last big XC of 3800 NMs round trip I averaged 85 kts GS over 44 hrs of flight time.

    Help Planning a Big Trip

Why the intense focus on the US/Mex border? I'm truly curious as I've dreamed about a Brownsville to Midland tour from Ohio along the border with plenty of R&R in Big Bend NP.

Good AMEs for Complex Aeromedical Consultation

I got a pilot friend and flew one January day to Peoria. Had a fine visit with Doc Bruce for my 3rd class SI, and we flew home that afternoon. Last 30 minutes in flurries, at night, VFR. I still get AmericInn emails from my trips there - 604 nauticals & well worth the effort!

    Psychiatric meds questions

Is that why you were taking it, for seizures? Or is the FAA that obtuse?

    Marble Canyon AZ (L41) procedure

That runway is extremely rough washboard - or it was in Sept 2018. We came out of Page, overflew horseshoe bend, then over Vermilion cliffs and circled to land. Did reverse coming out. Be wary of DA. Outstanding scenery our entire trip - best yet in my 172.

    O-470 Alternator Conversion

I had similar happen to me - VR premature mortality. IIRC the company had some problems with the earlier versions. They didn't offer to make it right but I wasn't going to complain for < $200. Been a couple years and a few hundred hours so far with no further issues.

    O-470 Alternator Conversion

I did the Plane Power conversion several years ago & am happy to not have to worry about my electric load anymore. IIRC it was about $1200 but that was with an A&P who let me help. Saved a bunch of weight pulling the heavier generator & old wires out but the solid-state voltage regulator had...
