    Trying to locate correct part

I think you are saying, you can put them on either way? I cannot get them to thread by hand using the hollowed out side. But they will thread on the other way with the solid face toward the bolt head. This is correct then? :)

    Trying to locate correct part

With all new seat rails installed I want to replace the floor fasteners for the seat belts in my Cessna 172G. The parts manual shows the assembly and the appropriate part numbers. I ordered them from A/C Spruce and the nut comes back not as NAS679A4 but as NAS679A4W. Took a chance and lost -...

Best tie downs for a c182

Homemade with some lines attached. Very similar to this. Whatever you do don't use the cheap corkscrew stakes. You'll twist them right off trying to get them in hard packed ground - not suitable for airplanes. I've kicked around the idea of using some kind of braided cable instead of chain...

Piper stall warning works on ground but not in an actual stall.

Exact same problem. Mine has never seemed to work properly in the air. My mechanic and I decided to take a peek. On a 172 you remove the tie down ring, let down the cuff, and open the inspection plate for access. Get a wrench in there and loosen the 4 screws. Move the unit toward the top of the...

Anyone had trouble Wiring Appareo USB?

Thanks Jim, I will certainly share this with them. Between them there's probably 40 years of experience in electronics and airplanes, not sure why this caused so much trouble in 2 airplanes and 3 different sets of parts. I wasn't there so I can't say.

    Bose A20

@eman1200 if you decide to part with them hit me up. I've got 2 Bose X and love them. The sweet spot for them is to cant them rearward on your noggin so they are more towards the crown. It's also crucial to pay attention to L vs R ear. I didn't think it mattered but I was wrong, not sure if...

Anyone had trouble Wiring Appareo USB?

Thanks for that link @Bell206, interesting & very helpful for me. However, the first thing to know is I'm not doing the crimping. If I was that would be the issue right there ;). The first couple of go rounds were done by an experienced electrical engineer whose equipment rides on NASA's gear...

    Bad news

I think that's about as best an employee could hope for from a company's CEO. The drop off in bookings is obviously terrifying to airlines. I appreciate his direct approach, including details about preserving cash, the company, and foregoing his salary: "we can’t put our company’s future at...

Anyone had trouble Wiring Appareo USB?

The kit includes tiny connectors for the 22 gauge wire that won't hold the wires in without some modification. Flimsy pins that crimp onto wires: Receiver of said wires and pins: The problem appears to be the barbs are too frail and fold like aluminum. For $350 I'd expect something...

Why you need a good carbon monoxide detector

Wow, what an amazing story. So what do pilots carry in their airplane?

    Taking Elderly Flying

Depending on the his age, his legs may not work so great anymore and you may need/want to have a second person available to help fold him into the airplane. I helped my buddy get a former military pilot who just a few years ago stopped giving BFRs into his 152. The guy was 96 at the time and...

    Request

eMan . . . years ago I went to tour our local Class C tower and guess what the ATC controller guide told me to say on initial callup VFR when asking for traffic advisories? Yep, you guessed it. I think I'm just going to say, Columbus, "O-H" and wait for the inevitable response "-I-O! Squawk 1234."

Anyone Using One of the Cockpit Companion Cockpit Organizer?

yeah but does the Staples model have coffee cup holders on it? That’s all I really need is a place to put my coffee travel mug until I level out in cruise.

    Towbar Prop Strike

Years ago I got hit skipped. A witness got a description of the car and a partial match on the plate. A paralegal coworker used her law firm's online search system to find the VIN # which I duly turned over to my insurance. Insurance co's lawyer got a summary judgement in court and garnished...

Here's Why You Don't Want to Shortcut a Traffic Circle

I grew up with roundabouts - big roundabouts in western Mass. They installed them here by my office in Ohio and it solved a traffic jam situation where previously there needed to be at least two traffic cops for the traffic. Roundabouts come naturally and I much prefer them over a stoplight...

The testing center has accused me of cheating on my IR written.

Right - this isn't (fake) politics it's a company he eff'd with by tagging it. They have the right to protect their reputation/brand, etc. On the face of it (and no one has all the facts here) I cannot point blame at the owner of the company. It's not like they publicly outed Bryan though maybe...
