    Audio Panel install cost

Also keep in mind that old wiring in many aircraft is like a rats nest that needs to be cleared out and replaced with new wiring which adds to labor and cost.

Upgrading to sell ever worth it?

True but consider the cost and time to install a Garmin 530 or 750 plus newer transponder and autopilot. That's easily 40-60k plus a month of time. I'd rather find the plane equipped the way I want it even if it costs more up front than a plane with runout engine and legacy avionics. Now if...

Upgrading to sell ever worth it?

Short answer no way. Best to buy plane with these upgrades already done. I'd rather pay more for a nice well equipped plane than have to spend more $ and time having this done.

Aerobatic plane that I can crop dust with?

Buy a hubsan or DJI drone. I have one and just added the remote pilot rating for making money flying drones. Way cheaper than flying a single piston aircraft.

How do I stop from taxiing too fast?

Lean mixture and power to 300-400 RPMS works for me in a Cessna 172.

Doing an Instrument Rating with just VOR/ILS equipped plane?

Same here buy a cheap plane like Piper Archer and remove DME and leave just VOR, ILS and LOC for basic IFR. Add GPS later.

Actual IFR usage for GA flying

Much of what I have gained learning IFR is how to make better go/no go decisions. If there is icing or nasty weather, I stay on the ground.

    Who likes beer this much?

Here in San Diego we have tons of local craft breweries. I like Ballast Point and Belching Beaver.

Help me decide on first airplane

I bought the Cessna Pilot Owner Skylane guide which is quite good and does an excellent job showing the differences among 182 models over time. Highly recommend it for aspiring Skylane owners. Here is a link: http://www.cessna.org/buyers-guide-182-excerpts

Help me decide on first airplane

Save the cash, buy an older 182Q model with good autopilot, Garmin 530W with GDL and then you have most for half cost of later 182 aircraft. That is what I would buy if I was intent on a Skylane.

    ROTFLMAO!

    Continental 520/550 AD

Which is why if I bought a plane with Continental cylinders, get a run out engine past TBO, budget for new cylinders and save on purchase price.

    Continental 520/550 AD

Ouch yeah its very cruel action by the bloated bureaucrats in the FAA that will drive a lot of Bonanza owners out of general aviation!

    Beating the airlines

Flew to Catalina today and back from San Diego in less than 2 hours. Beats airlines and driving!

    Ancient checkride maneuvers

I am waiting for VOR and ILS to go away once the VOR stations are decommissioned and replaced by GPS approaches.

Do you prefer being on top or bottom?

In my case, I would check wx if possible and always leave an out. Probably fly under since I am not yet instrument rating and want to be safe.

    Buying used plane as is

Oh, I hear you loud and clear hotprops guy! I allocated and budgeted reserves for Mx, fuel, and hangar toward the purchase price. I factor that into the purchase. The engine is close to TBO so that requires engine reserve fund in case it needs a major or top overhaul.
