    Buying into a club

My club has a very similar situation. Of the 9 partners, 4 of them were talking about selling. I introduced a potential buyer to the first person that mentionned selling and left it to them at that point. Its really dependent on how you want to handle it. Know what you think it is worth and go...

Just made the whole thing worth it...

Sorry. I guess my point is that they are getting paid.

    Wisdom Teeth

I just had 3 wisdom teeth out about 6 months ago. It wasn't a big deal at all. I didn't even take the pain meds. I can't speak for the implants, but the wisdom teeth operation is no biggy. I had the same concerns as you going into it though.

Just made the whole thing worth it...

Didn't congress pass a bill saying that all gov workers will get retroactive pay after the shutdown? So they are getting paid even though some of them are not working...what is the point of this "shutdown" again?

Any feedback on 2-blade scimitar for Arrow?

I'm in an arrow 2 partnership. It has the scimitar 2 blade. Really nice prop imo. 2300rpm cruise and the plane touches 140 knots. I don't hear of too many arrows that get that book speed.

No STC paperwork on an old modification - Deal breaker?

This particular example is an early 60's Debonair with the tapered third window. I am curious about situations like this in general. I have a feeling I may run into it again on different planes that I look at. Maybe it won't be the same mods, but similar circumstances.

No STC paperwork on an old modification - Deal breaker?

I have been testing the waters of aircraft ownership for a little while and recently came across a nice plane that seemed to have a lot going for it. The owner said he has owned it for about 5 years, and it had a third window mod and extended baggage compartment mod. He said that is how he...

    What have you flown?

I am fairly new at this flying thing, so my list is short: Archer III Warrior III a few different older 172s 180HP Arrow 200HP Arrow II B33 Debonair Definitely most of my time in Pipers including training. I own a piece of the Arrow II I fly these days. The Debonair seemed like a really...

    Office Pranks

Probably the best one I heard about was from my brother. Years ago, he worked at Motorola doing software. He has a friend that worked in the cube next to him. This guy is a very conservative no nonsense kind of guy who has a tendency to complain about a lot of things and people that he...

    Explaining GA to non-pilots?

People always have a look of disbelief and fear when I tell them I don't actually have to talk to anyone on the radio in most cases. They also are sometimes shocked to hear I can fly at night without some sort of special certification.

Flying to KDPA tomorrow...anything I should know?

Great flying to Chicago this weekend! It was very easy, and the Dupage Flight Service was great. Thanks for all the input.

Flying to KDPA tomorrow...anything I should know?

Thanks for the feedback. I will probably only get fuel if they waive some fees, otherwise, I will have plenty for the return. Sounds pretty straight forward. I am looking forward to the flight.

Flying to KDPA tomorrow...anything I should know?

The weather appears to finally be cooperating. I am planning to go visit the family by air tomorrow. I will have my wife and baby with me flying from KCID. I have not flown into too many busy areas so far (KCID isn't very busy for a class C). I did fly into Clow last summer, but that wasn't...

    Potential Partnership - Thoughts/Advice?

I would definitely find out what is in the reserve kitty. It is part of the asset valuation. If the plane is worth 40k and they have 10k in the kitty, you are buying into a 50k asset (not accounting for engine time, but you get the picture). If they have a loan out on the plane for a previous...

    Potential Partnership - Thoughts/Advice?

I am currently in a 9 person partnership for a Piper Arrow. As it is in any partnership, there are pros and cons. In my case, the other partners rarely use the plane, so I have ~90% availability with a fraction of the cost. I think it is more ideal to have less partners as there are...

ForeFlight to drop iPad 1, iPhone 3G, iOS 5 support

Jesse hit it on the head. I could care less if they did not support new upcoming features on the older hardware, but I would greatly appreciate it if they continued to update the charts and allow me to use the program I originally bought. Back when I decided to buy a tablet, I would have...

ForeFlight to drop iPad 1, iPhone 3G, iOS 5 support

This reinforces my hatred for Apple products. I got the iPAD because ForeFlight only runs on iOS. Now I may get screwed and not even be able to use it (if something happens to my current install). What is the best Android flight app out there these days? I already relegated the iPAD to only...

    Landing Stability, Piper Warrior

Was there any wake turbulence? My instructor once told me about a similar situation while he was flying. On approach, felt a bump and then the plane rolled hard. He said he had to use opposite rudder and basically pull a hard steep turn to get out of the wake before he could level the wings...

    Flew by a glider yesterday

So I was maybe 15nm east of KCID on flight following doing the usual visual scan when I noticed something soaring in and out of clouds to my 10 o'clock. At first I thought it was a bird, but then noticed it was a glider. He was maybe 1-2 miles away about 1000ft above me. I had received no...
