Cessna carb heat linkage issue warning

Yes, I could move the butterfly up and down from the hole underneath and not have the lever move. Silicon. My mistake. That makes more sense, thanks.

Cessna carb heat linkage issue warning

Putting my plane back together after my recent annual, I found an issue with the carb heat my A&P and A&P/AI missed altogether so I thought I'd pass it along for others to check. This is the air filter and carb heat box for my Cessna 150. I believe this may also be used on other model...

    Continental 0-200 breather tube question

Alright, so the suggestion is to have it extend below the belly. As to having a hole in the cowling, if that was actually the case, not sure why that was needed. The pipe on my C150 was clamped to one of the nose wheel supports so came out well away from the existing lower opening. No extra hole...

    Continental 0-200 breather tube question

Unfortunately, the article you reference does not answer my question. How far below the belly should the tube extend? From what I can find on the net, there are some that feel extending the tube below the belly and "into the wind" will create a vacuum and make things worse. Others feel it might...

    Continental 0-200 breather tube question

Found something on Cessna 170 site that says the tube should extend 2" below the belly of the plane. A hole (freeze hole) should be drilled about 10" up from the end of the tube to relieve pressure should an ice plug block the end of the tube. Another site says that ice hole needs to be as...

    Continental 0-200 breather tube question

Need to replace the aluminum breather tube in my C150. Been told it is too short. How far below the belly should the tube extend?

Easy way to detect oil leaks

Maybe some of you know already this... but I will share for those that may not... Our aviation engine oil has a tendency to fluoresce quite a bit under UV light. Much more so than common automotive oil will. If you have one of those UV pens lights for use with your car's AC leak detection, it...

    Positive Engagement ?

I'm glad you were the first to reply to this thread... because you are completely wrong. However, you're in good company because the two mechanics working on my annual believe the very same thing as you. Let's see if anyone has the correct answer and we can discuss why so many A&P and IA's are...

    Positive Engagement ?

Can someone please explain Positive Engagement as it relates to bolts used in our airplanes. When did the FAA suggest (if that's the correct word) using PE over the older "2 1/2 threads out" method of securing bolts? Is PE mainly for use with bolts that dead-end inside a metal part (flange...

    0-200 exhaust removal help

Thanks, Dan for clarifying the type of hardware that should be there. When I get back to my hangar, I will take a closer look to see what I have in my plane. Then, maybe I can sleep better : ) ... and thanks for the reply sans the put down others seem the need to add.

    0-200 exhaust removal help

My A&P and AI are telling me the 0-200's exhaust on my C150 "is not air worthy because the inner baffle is worn through" and needs to be replaced, on both sides. They will not sign off the annual until this is corrected. There are four bolts or nuts holding each of the two of them on. Frankly...

    Does this sound right?

My plane is not a rust bucket. It is in fine shape and has been well maintained by both me and the prior owners. Documented oil/filter changes every 25 hours. Recent new Skytek starter, new vacuum pump, new three-point seat belts... the list goes on. What is a surprise to me is that one AI...

    Does this sound right?

Moved to a new airport. Asked the resident AI to do my C150M's annual. Telling me now, after 2 days into this, the "first annual will take twice as long as we need to establish a baseline for overall condition and airworthiness... and we also need to research all the AD's by going page by page...

    Hangar parking winch

"I don't think I'd pull by the gear leg covers. They're thin aluminum" Plenty of support at that point. Note the additional thick frame around the step. I see no issues... but thanks.

    Hangar parking winch

Hello to all. Had an opportunity recently to move my Cessna 150M to a single hangar at Goodspeed Airport 42B, here in Connecticut. Hangars are hard to come by around these parts... so when my number came up, I took it. https://airfield.guide/filter_airports.asp?892;bJZFhXPPXobHnANavWhb The...

    Hangar Etiquette

Chocks are required as part of the contract. Also, as someone else mentioned, I have taped the floor where my main wheels should be. What's likely to happen is either the planes in back will rarely go out and moving mine will be a rare event or they'll get fed up and move out.

    Hangar Etiquette

Seems 50/50 judging by the replies. As far as the tug, I considered getting one for me as I have a herniated disc that I'd rather not aggravate if at all possible. Will see how that idea goes over with the others. There is a 3/4" lip where the asphalt meets the hangar floor. Very hard to get...

    Hangar Etiquette

Like I said, one of the issues we will address at the meeting. I fully expect to meet the other owners and talk with them at some point in the near future. No reason we cannot work something out for the betterment of all.
