    This is no yoke!

Hence the reason to use something a bit more modern than what they had in 1976. A good Teflon-based synthetic grease that will not harden over time.

    Running 7.00-6 tires ?

Gary: Well, I removed all three of my wheel pants two years ago and never looked back. So... the weight savings there should make it more or less a wash with the new tires. I ordered the same as you, the 4-ply (on Goodyear Flight Special II) as it was specified by Cessna for this plane. I did...

    This is no yoke!

If you look at the second photo in my original posting it is clear there is no way to lube the universal joint without first removing one of the securing bolts. When I removed mine it did not appear there was ever and any type of lubrication inside of that boot, which was tight enough to retain...

    This is no yoke!

Since taking delivery of my Cessna 150M, there has always been "play" in the yoke on both sides. I found it got tiring having to constantly rotate the yoke back and forth on windy flights so with discussion with my A&P/IA, I looked into what the cause was. The yoke is connected to the gear that...

    Running 7.00-6 tires ?

Can I assume going with 4-ply VS 6-ply (1150lbs per tire VS 1750lb) I will aid the braking a bit with the softer (read flatter) tire? Would going with the 6.00-6 Desser Monster Retreads be considered a "modification" or just "new tires" in the log book entry? Thanks!

    Running 7.00-6 tires ?

Found this from reading my Cessna 150M POH: It calls for: WHEEL, BRAKE £ TIRE ASSY, 6.00-6 MAIN TIRE, V-PLY BLACKWALL (EACH) Part # C262003-0101 I assumed the V-PLY is a misprint so researching the part # online I get this: TEXTRON AVIATION PART NUMBER C262003-0101 TIRE 6X6-4 Therefore...

    Running 7.00-6 tires ?

Many thanks for the additional information and the photos. I envy you that fantastic grass location in the last photo. I think the Desser Monster Retreads are the best option. Slightly larger diameter with deeper tread but they are also a 4-ply, are they not. Going from 6 down (back to really)...

    Running 7.00-6 tires ?

Gary: I assume you are talking about these, correct? https://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/lgpages/retreadtires66.php https://vansairforce.net/community/archive/index.php/t-125707.html Seems there are several comments on the web on these tires having issues... coming apart, dry-rot, splits...

    Running 7.00-6 tires ?

My Cessna 150 uses 6.00-6 tires for the mains. I'd like to go up one size to 7.00-6. About 1.25" larger diameter than the 6's. The other dimensions for rim and width are the same. A bit more weight capability for the 7's. Thinking the extra size will provide more cushioning for landing on...

    If you build it...

Looking in areas where there is an existing private airfield thinking if they let one do it, they might allow another. The world did not end the first go around. Another idea is possibly leasing space from a farmer. A few strips I've seen, as was also mentioned above, are on farms. They've...

    If you build it...

Interested in hearing from anyone who has been able to create a private airfield on property they own in the US. Especially in the Northeast area. How hard was it to get past the local authorities? How much land did it require (to get it passed)? Anything else you can offer up. My...

uAvionix skyBeacon: A false sense of security?

The tailBeacons are a completely different design from the original skyBeacon. They are what the skyBeacon should have been had it been properly designed. If there were no issues with the skyBeacon then why the need to create the tailBeacon?

uAvionix skyBeacon: A false sense of security?

Glad to see so much interest in the skyBeacon and nice to know I'm not the only one to have issues with this poorly designed product. Warms my heart. There are two factors that affect how well... and, if at all... this device will work and it seems some are confusing the two. The first is the...

uAvionix skyBeacon: A false sense of security?

Yes, I'm sure there will be many who claim their unit works flawlessly. Shops I talked to said they cannot make money installing them and then have to deal with the come backs... at their expense... when they fail the test. The unit has a fatal flaw in its design. Compare it to the tailbeacon...

uAvionix skyBeacon: A false sense of security?

Had lunch with a high school friend of mine a month ago. He’s been flying for some 45 years. Suggested I get ADSB so we could, along with some other folks, fly to areas inside of Mode C around the East Coast, where we all live. So, I picked up a uAvionix skyBeacon. That being the least...

    Questions on installing a skyBeacon

Installed a brand new altitude encoder. Also had an avionics shop here locally look at my transponder. They found the unit was not even close to being aligned. The "gates" as they call them were out, the receive sensitivity should have been around 74 and it was 68. There were loose grounds...
