    FRC from uncontrolled airport

While I never pick up a clearance in the air, the call certainly would be appreciated if there was an unexpected change. "This will be a full route clearance, advise ready to copy" is never an enjoyable thing. I'd agree with most everything else; the extra effort would be appreciated!

    ADF required

Read the notes for the plate that you posted, it still says "Circling to Rwy 35L NA at night. ADF or DME required."

    ADF required

I thought about that, but wouldn't that be easily solved by having the hold based on a flying the localizer outbound and holding at a specific altitude and DME? KAPA ILS/LOC 35R does exactly that; the plate says DME or ADF. If it is what it is without any real explanation, I get that. I just...

    ADF required

There is probably something very simple I'm missing, but... KSTC ILS / LOC 31 indicates that ADF is required. http://155.178.201.160/d-tpp/1403/05799IL31.PDF Given the existence of the on-field VORTAC, I'm wondering why ADF is required, when one can identify the FAF from DME (STC 5.7)...

Procedure for taxiing to an FBO?

    I'm impressed! Well done.

    Plane down in Aurora, CO

This. I wasn't sure when I saw the original crash site video. The before crash video removed a lot of doubt in my book: loss of control while maneuvering at low altitude...

LSA limitation re takeoff power for 5 minutes

This is the only reference I found... Vintage & Experimental Aircraft Program This program standardizes pilot certification in the following U.S. aircraft: Vintage Type Certificated aircraft which require a type rating Experimental turbine-powered aircraft Experimental aircraft with a...

What was your most embarrasing situation?

#1 I get taxi instructions at an unfamiliar, yet pretty straightforward airport to the FBO. I'm going along and see a huge building with the FBO's sign, a fuel truck and some planes parked out front. Naturally, I ASSume this is the place. I shut down, and the line guy says I'm in the wrong...

Nevermind. Do it myself: GauzeGuy you're 4 miles from DRUNK, fly heading 180, maintain 7000 until established, cleared localizer approach runway 15. :goofy:  :D

This. On my three written tests to this point, there has been a disclaimer to that effect.

Pattern work for fun as non-novice pilot

I typically will not go up just to do pattern work, xwind or otherwise. Hanging out in the pattern is not my favorite. I will do XC flights routinely, even if just to a nearby airport to stay current. Since I fly out of KBJC and fly to KRAP several times a year, staying proficient in strong...

Okay, sounds like nothing unusual. I'm surprised I haven't run into them before. Thanks for the feedback.

    Flight following:terrain warning

I flew a 182RG from KBJC to KABQ today. As usual, I utilized flight following. My route was KBJC LUFSE V389 PUB V611 FTI V60 OTO KABQ. Given the winds, I wasn't about to go into the mountains. As it was, it was a bumpy ride and I spent a lot of time at Va. Anyway, once I got the handoff to...

    Cirrus FIKI

Thanks for your replies. I figured that it would not be a good idea to hang out in ice for extended periods. Given the number of situations where my exposure would have been a matter of minutes, having any capability would be an improvement. I'll check out the Cirrus forum also.

    Cirrus FIKI

I'm looking at Cirrus transition training to get into a FIKI equipped SR22. While the 172 and 182's work great in most cases, having the FIKI capability would be helpful to increase my dispatch rate. I've run into several cases these last few months where I've had to divert, cancel plans or...

    Mountain flying & radar services

I'm looking to fly KBJC to KHND soon. What kind of altitude will I need to receive flight following from Denver Center over the cumulogranite? Will the MEA listed along V8 be adequate for that purpose?

    Super Bowl 2014

Congrats to Seattle for a much deserved win. My Broncos obviously didn't even show up to play. I'm glad that a class act like Russell Wilson was able to pick up the win.
