    Angel Flight 2016

RotorDude started this thread, but he hit a chord with me. I have lots of stories. To anyone thinking of doing this, just remember it's about the patients. It's easy to get caught up in the mission and flying, but most are really going through an emotional journey. Compassion is paramount...

    Angel Flight 2016

For motivation.... Most of my missions are cancer patients. This is not a great pic - out of focus - but was one of my favorite. A few years ago, this was a relocation flight from an abusive father. At the end of the flight, I told the girls that I would be praying for them and their mommy...

Very doable for many missions. As far as cramped cabin, you are a pretty big fella - choose skinny passengers. ;) Really - you can choose. It gives their height and weight. As for practice in IMC, you can turn down any mission, even after you accept it. If you're not comfortable, call it...

    Fear of fall?

Sounds like you've got it licked. We have some good welders that struggle with heights. Some give up and stay in the shop. Others gut it out. Over time, they get more comfortable and more confident. Familiarity breeds comfort.

    Video: real life weather flying

So I just watched the video while I ate lunch at my desk.... I'd like to know tops over the airport before I judged. But I think what he said at the end indicates that rather than lose his jitters, he wouldn't make the approach again. Worried about the miss could force a try you might not...

Good post RD. I'm happy with Nexrad overlaid by my Stormscope. It works well for our isolated Texas thunderstorms.

What's your UL? My SR22TN was pretty limited, and I couldn't take some of the missions I could with my Bonanza, but there will be some you can make. You get a daily email showing how many people and total weight, including luggage. You can find more by logging on to website. YOU pick which...

Most rewarding flying I do. RD is right - a pilot needs a mission. Keeps you current. Keeps you challenged with new airports. And helps some people who can really use the help. For a while, their major heavy worries are gone as they're lost in the world of GA. If I get the chance, I let them...

Now slow flight practice is a very useful thing - especially with short field targets in mind.

(NA) ideas for pranks to play on old college buddy

I had a buddy in the USAF that was TDY in Utah. He filled out an "I would like more information on becoming a Mormon" card with my name, phone number and address in Texas. Now, mind you, I don't have any problem with Mormons, and enjoyed the first few conversations in comparing faiths, but...

Share your favorite aviation picture(s) from this month!

Thanks! I've loved all my planes! Lots of respect for the SR22. Things I don't like: no steerable nose-wheel (hate that!) and high maintenance costs. Won't say things I like because I suspect a good Cirrus debate would derail a nice thread like this. ;) I've had a couple 182's in the past...

Help me get over stall anxiety

Honestly - I don't know how useful the practice is. You're not likely to stall at altitude unless you're iced up; then you have bigger problems. If you stall, it's likely something like base-to-final, and practice isn't going to save you from a stall in the pattern. But I still enjoy doing...

Nice FB page, Kevin. Beautiful lighting on the Thomason's. Gave your page a like. I have a friend that flies Red Nose for the CAF. P51 is a beautiful plane!

I sold my SR22TN and haven't flown since August. But I took this last week when I went to look at this plane. Bought it yesterday - only aviation picture I've taken this month. Boring as it is, I like it! Beautiful pic Ari!

Help me get over stall anxiety

I suspect when the comment is run through the reverse-cyber-filter, it comes out more like: Mind if I give it a try and you walk me through mistakes? Just don't let me kill us. People are always Clint Eastwood on the internet.

Multipoint EGT- How close should they be in temperature?

Here's an example of the spread in my SR22TN - EGT's 200 deg.s spread & CHT's 24 deg.s. Following that is a GAMI spread - GPH for each cylinder - mine was .6. Goal was .5 or less, but ran very LOP just fine, so left it alone. You can't be as precise with carbs, but thought they might...

    Vectors lesson.

Two things: 1. Let them know if you feel like you're getting behind. They will help give you some time, and you can set up the full procedure if you need to. 2. Had a friend tell me several years ago when I was green with the IR to put "Training Flight" in the comments section. That way...

    Bought into a 182P

Y'all make civil discourse much harder than it has to be. Where did I say it was dangerous? There are benefits to each. There are risks to each. My opinion is there is more risk to the plane than reward with 40 deg flaps as matter of routine for the average pilot landing on long RWs...
