    Wire Terminals & Crimping Tool

Splice the shield to a short 4" section of wire and solder using solder sleeves. Crimp the other end into an appropriate PDIG ring terminal.

    Wire Terminals & Crimping Tool

Digikey has the Tyco connector a little less than Mouser. Either sells the terminals for less than Spruce. Aircraft Tool also sells a good tool, if you're not looking to crimp all day in a shop environment.

Fatal Midair Collision At Idaho Backcountry Fly-In - 2013

Arrow. Been working on a recalcitrant Baron all day.

Fatal Midair Collision At Idaho Backcountry Fly-In - 2013

It's been on here before. A two year old in the Arrow was killed and everyone else lived.

Is aircraft mechanic a good career field?

United came to my A&P school to try to get people for SFO. Stupid expensive to live down there. If they had a lot like LAX to park a little camp trailer, I might’ve done it to get the seniority and transfer out.

    Garmin 430 Install Cost

Pacific Coast is pretty backed up as well, looked at working there as I need to be closer to home for family reasons. Think it’ll be February if you want a new transponder installed there nowadays. They’re all backed up like that.

KMD 150 - any use fore it?

I have something similar I bought from Radio Shack ages ago. Haven’t lost anything to static with it, though I have an antistatic mat as well.

KMD 150 - any use fore it?

I meant for K9medic, since he doesn’t have any other GPS. The screen on yours looks pretty useable for what it is. I can see why you’re keeping it.

KMD 150 - any use fore it?

Yours must have the built in gps. The battery replacement doesn’t look too bad, think I’d go for that. Wonder how much the database updates are. And if you need anything extra to run the update.

    Trig TT31- ADS-B antenna question

Two wires, actually. One 232 out and a 232 return. Easier than a 335/345 install, especially if it’s replacing a KT76.

KMD 150 - any use fore it?

It’s an early moving map unit designed to work with the basic GPS systems available before the GPS 480 (and its Apollo predecessor), so functionality is pretty limiting. If it works, keep it for now, but I wouldn’t drop a penny into it. What other avionics are included?

    GA GPS options

Some of the early Avidyne units were reliability challenged. Not sure if that’s improved recently or if they’re still somewhat unreliable. And upgrading the older 430/530 to WAAS is still very doable. In fact, Garmin won’t repair the older units until the upgrade is done.

Need ADS-B "in" only for Garmin 530w

I’ve hooked up a couple 345s to 430/530 and the result is very coarse and cluttered. It’s one of those things that is possible, but honestly better turned off. Now on an IFD or a GTN, that’s a different ballgame entirely.

    iPad to Bluetooth Audio Panel

Portable in solutions won’t display on your panel devices. The GTX345 works with Avidyne though it’s apparently a bit finicky to set up right. Looks nice once it’s running though. My own preference would be the 345 and IFD540.

    Must haves for PPL VFR?

ForeFlight definitely works with X Plane. I wish the Garmin GTN practice apps did as well.

To GPS or not to GPS

If you’re keeping it for a few years, I’d get the 650 and enjoy your time with it. If you’re keeping it a few weeks or months, don’t bother.

    Source for Vinyl Graphics

A printed decal is going to be on vinyl. You're right that traditional layered vinyl is not the right choice for more than a handful of colors, but if you want it to last it's going to be printed on a vinyl substrate.
