    Cessna 182 yokes

@camorton metal. Those epoxy ones will crack. No thank you! The late 60's horn is ok, bit Mooney like.

    Cessna 182 yokes

I'm the odd one out, I love my "closed loop" whatever and detest the replacement "rams horn" with the big square center.

    430W Screen slow to "warm"

Just started happening in the colder weather but it looks like the 430W in my bird doesn't fully render the screen properly until it's been on 5min or so. I'll get weird symbols in places where I would expect something else. Once "warm" the thing is fine. Anyone else experienced this sort of...

Thinking About Hanging Up My Spurs

Sounds like you need to trade down to a smaller, cheaper plane. Why not a J3 or something along that ilk? 2 seats, comfy, slow but able to give you enough of the thrill in small, tight spaces to make it fun. Also, I'll take your wagon...

    LAX area shut down, again.

I lived with the Trump TFR every weekend for 4 years. Didn't understand it, didn’t like it, and think it's a little bit silly. It's a good way to cause a flight school to shutter. They need to get rid of the traveling TFR as it doesn't provide the protection worth the cost imposed on others.

    Labor shortages are annoying.

Auto mechanics get paid better than them. The "lack of interest" is the free market talking. Can't blame people for deciding to trade their time for more money doing a very similar job, now can ya? It's that whole "nobody wants to work ...for what they're willing to pay" thing.

    Labor shortages are annoying.

You know, if being an AP or IA paid better, there wouldn't be a labor shortage. The problem is, "we" wouldn't want to pay more. My own shop is awesome but most of the people working at it are in their 50's. I'm not worried about today, I'm worried about tomorrow.

    Avionics install lead time

I got a quicker turn around on Aspen, found a good used lynx-9000, and I do believe JWG has 440s in stock.

Garmin GNS 750 vs Avidyne IFD 540

3 more videos to watch. I'm having avionics work done and couldn't justify replacing my 430W. I desperately want to replace it with an IFD.

Why are Cessna Skymasters not liked? Or are they?

They cost a metric ton in maintenance. I asked around and was told you're not going to save any money long term with them even at that price delta.

How much do you spend monthly/annually on flying

I don't want to know. Enough that it doesn't ruin me, financially, but enough that I notice. La la la la la I'm not hearing you!

    Current loan rates

For some comparison, at 2.9% rate on a 30yr mortgage for a $600k house, that monthly payment is equivalent to a 30yr mortgage at 6.1% for a $392k house. That's 2/3 of the previous buying power. There will be some adjustments on things which must be financed.

    Thoughts on buying used avionics...

I've seen 750 non-xi for $12k. Avionics are all on back order. Used is seeing a bump in prices. I wouldn't believe you could get an "xi" version for that price.

GA friendly airports in Newark area

Them fighting words. Did you drive slow in the fast lane or stop in front of the stairs at a busy area? There's great GA in NJ, just avoid the jet-"only" places or EWR.

Money not being a deciding factor...210 vs Cherokee 6/toga

Later versions of the 'toga lost the ability to haul any weight at all, glorified 4 seater. Got to stick to the 80's. If you could find a T210R (rare bird) then that would be my vote. For the same acquisition price, however, there are better birds.

    Comfortable Ownership?

More advice, @RyanB You can call around for tie down and hangar costs. For Mx, find a club near you with the type of plane you want to buy. I'm guessing they could tell you what the costs are.

    Comfortable Ownership?

yeah, yeah. I like this state, however. Sure, the taxes are high and the cost of living is extraordinary but the school system in my town is also top 300 in the country. I'd move back to MA if I could stand the winter and had family up there.

    Comfortable Ownership?

This is right. Wish I lived in those areas people have chimed in with "WRONG." Single engine, high performance, 6 seater... Hangar: $750/month, $9k/year Insurance: ~$4k/year (6 seats) Annual: ~$2k Mx: it depends... Fuel: 14g/h, 100h/year, $7/g or ~$9k/year So $15k/year fixed and variable gets...

    I’m calling the peak

I'd buy it if my daughter was older. She absolutely loves the paint scheme. The seats needs to be done up in white or similar to match as that grey/blue doesn't do the paint justice.
