How Many Planes Do You Have

I have more than that. First on the list is my Cessna 205. Beautiful plane that I picked up from an A&P in Texas. Just recently added an Aspen 2000 and Lynx 9000D+. Take the family on vacations and weekends with it. A true family hauler that packs my 2 kids, my wife, and of course, my MIL. Next...

What avionics does my 182Q need to have for me to take a IFR check ride?

Don't get a GNS 430/530 as the install will be close to the cost of an already 25yr old piece of equipment. I'llbe sellingmy 430W next year and upgradingto an avidyne. However, The 175 is your lowest cost option. But seriously with the cost of labor at a reputable shop, 375 it, if you have to...

Upgrade Advice from the Installer's POV

Plane 3 sounds better to me. Those King units, while old, will continue to work another decade. The Narco, maybe not.

    182Q vs 210N cabin size

I can tell you my 205 (same exact body as a P206 and mid 60's 210 cabin) is about 2 inches wider than a 182. It definitely feels roomier in the middle seats. The back seats, however, are snugger than the back seats of a 182. On the mid 60's 210, they don't really have 6 seats. They are 4+2 kid...

Navion Panel Upgrade (make some recommendations)

An Aspen drives an STEC-55x better than the GI-375. I've just upgraded and went 2000 MAX. I was advised to go 1000 w/ AP integration plus GTN 750xi. Save the money on labor and go Aspen with your existing 55x. The synthetic vision is awesome, btw. I also have a Lynx 9000 but would recommend...

iPad choices, small single engine GA

I mount on the yoke. Stays out of the view of the avionics. So for me, a mini is perfect.

54 knot CAS MOSAIC requirement, and only that. :)

I think the choice of VS1 is thr right choice. Look at the extra training needed for the MU-2 and you'll see they avoided a whole host of weird and wild attempts to hit a rule with crazy flaps or even Wren like systems.

54 knot CAS MOSAIC requirement, and only that. :)

There's planes that are legal in the EU already being built for a price point lower than anything Textron has to offer which would not be possible in the US without MOSAIC. I want to try out the VL3 one day, shark, Bristell RG...

54 knot CAS MOSAIC requirement, and only that. :)

The EU LSA standard is much more permissive. They allow higher weights with landing gear that can actually survive repeated us my students.

Can we all just agree that Textron has abandoned thr GA market? Cirrus is for the rich. Diamonds aren't far from unattainable to most people. The EU LSA are back within the realm of the 5% being able to purchase instead of the 0.5%.

Buying a plane from an Estate

Can you have an A&P look at it before you buy it at auction? Anything that has Sat for 5+ years is going to cost as much if not than the purchase price. Also, talk to the auctioneer about escrow anyways.

Complex/HP insurance for low time private pilot

350hr, 200hr complex, bought a 6 seater and they still wanted 10hr dual before passengers. Paid $4k first year. For a retract 210 w/ 4 seats they wanted 25hrs dual and it would cost $8k the first year. Obviously I walked from that nonsense. I would seriously consider a M20C, D, E or G Mooney if...

    Taxi problem

Just wanted to say if you're having this much trouble on the ground with the rudder pedals then don't take off. One cross wind the wrong direction and you might not have enough nose wheel authority to correct the plane and head it on heading.

    Resale Value of Airplane Upgrades

I've shown that paint job to my daughter and she loves it. So you might see a second at some point. But yeah, that's definitely not adding to most people's value. Like a gold sparkly car, it is niche.

    Resale Value of Airplane Upgrades

It also depends on the upgrade. Replacing all your nav, strobe, and lights with LED might cost you $3-4k but you'll see 0 of it at resale. Upgraded an old Nav/Com to something newer? Yeah, most people expect you to have that. Add a new GTN750xi? Now you're talking...

    Best and Worst C182 Models

I'll add more things, too. However, the best is the '56-D. If off airport, then the '56 wins as it has the highest clearance. You'll just have to get the wingX for the useful load bump. 1. Prior to the M model, they used steel landing gear. It took a beating way better and were slightly...

    Help with airplane choice

@Piper Dreaming you could look at the 205, which is what I got. Cheaper than a 206 and just as capable. That said, an experimental cub variant sounds right up your alley. If your tail wheel is that good, Maule?
