Please! Help me lower my cable bill.

Ask if you can cancel, wait ten days, call back and get the new customer rate? I do that with Verizon and every time they realize that it's easier to just give me the new customer rate. The trick is to be firm but polite. These people generally want to help but have to go through the "steps".

So, student pilots.. Who are we and where do we stand?

You nailed it! I have three lessons this week as my wife is out of town so I took advantage of the extra free time. As you stated, under flaring BIG TIME. I put part of the blame on my instructor and part on me. I have been performing very well according to him and on my second lesson (the...

Customer got hit by a prop today.

I think a lot of it comes down to how well did the guy really know the risk? Knowing the environment that SmashTime plays in (as I do too), even scraped knuckles are investigated with significant effort as typically scraped knuckles are a leading indicator of bigger problems. Most often poor...

Customer got hit by a prop today.

SmashTime, I get the impression that Tom is a small field pilot, not in a larger corporation with systematic safety systems. I work at a multi billion dollar corporation doing multi billion dollar projects and we do exactly as you are discussing. JSAs, PJRAs, etc ad nauseam. I totally agree...

    Traffic pattern TRIVIA

Normal 50mph gear is 5th (cruising) and at 55 mph is 6th. Turn into typical side street at 25mph is 2nd gear. Requires quite a large increase in rpm for the rev match. About 1200rpm to 4000. A "normal" car would probably only be a 1-2 gear difference. And yea, just a sound thing. Some people...

    Traffic pattern TRIVIA

Sometimes in a turn, sometimes after, sometimes before. The transmission in my car is very close ratiod so downshifting before a turn appropriately might require significant RPM and that's not pleasent for passengers who aren't used to it, so I'll shift after. During a turn if speed is variable...

    Traffic pattern TRIVIA

All cars used to be manual transmission and typically a shift is required when turning. Therefore most turns are done with the left hand. My current car is a manual and most turns are done with the left hand. The only time it's different is if I'm having fun and complete the downshift before...

Cessna 150 - Deal or No Deal?

It's not fancy, it's a budget fun car: Ford Focus ST. I still daily my 1997 Integra Also, I can have both and afford it but as I've said earlier in the thread I'm at 2.8 hours into my PPL training. Certainly not the time to be considering buying a plane for me. I know some people purchase...

Cessna 150 - Deal or No Deal?

But I like my car...vroom vroom. And she doesn't want to learn how to drive a manual. Hopefully once I get the PPL and show her how nice it is to make trips to Key West or St. Augustine or wherever in a short time, she'll see the benefit of something like a 172 or Piper (pick a fighting name)...

    induction service vs. seafoam diy?

It's a performance car with a high pressure engine driven fuel pump that can't supply enough fuel when increasing power. So what a lot of people are doing to get more fuel is adding another set of injectors and tuning for them. The side benefit is the fuel wash on the valves.

So, student pilots.. Who are we and where do we stand?

No stall horn so I suspect not pulling too early. He did say I was landing flat and needed more. I'm certainly not worried about it, just trying to post flight critique myself. I don't look anywhere inside at the flare. You might be onto something with the point I'm looking. I'll have to pay...

So, student pilots.. Who are we and where do we stand?

Commence Operation "Attempt to Drink from Fire Hose" Today I did my second full lesson, 1.3 hours, which involved the following: Preflight Taxi and Takeoff Slow flight Steep turns Power off stalls Instrument practice with foggles Three Landings with pattern work It was an intense day. I'm...

    induction service vs. seafoam diy?

My car is an Ecoboost. My solution? Auxiliary fuel injection pre intake manifold. Fuel wash on the valves and performance increase...YAY!

    induction service vs. seafoam diy?

Depends on the car but most often it's hogwash. My car is direct injected and has the PCV ventilation recycle to the intake. This results in some buildup on the intake valves that might warrant a walnut shell cleaning of the valves. However, it's rarely a problem and can only be seen if you...

Cessna 150 - Deal or No Deal?

Luckily my wife is a very practical person and does not have a shoe thing, or a purse thing, etc I think she has 5 pairs of shoes and one purse. If I didn't just buy a "fun" car and have to replace the AC at the house she'd probably be okay with it.

Cessna 150 - Deal or No Deal?

Everyone, Just to be clear, I'm not in the market for a plane currently. My wife would kill me. Seriously. She knows where I keep the guns. I was just posting this because I was curious about the pricing as it did seem like a deal. Looks like everyone thinks it is.

Cessna 150 - Deal or No Deal?

As a guy with only 1.5 hours in my logbook, I'd likely just be saying "ooohhhh ahhhh......airplane......pretty....." Like a caveman. But I'll try and see it if for nothing other than seeing a plane. :)

Private owner with the school advertising/brokering. I know this has never been in their rental fleet.

They don't have any 150s in the rental fleet so I could believe it.

Cessna 150 - Deal or No Deal?

Interesting to hear everyone saying it seems to be a good deal. I've not seen this plane in person nor do I know anything about it other than the flight school sent an email saying they were helping the owner sell it. My next lesson is tomorrow, I may ask to take a look at it just for kicks...
