Don't be showing up way early for your flight Sunday

I would be happy to stay on standard time year-round. We would lose an hour of daylight in the evenings during the summer, but we would adjust and would not ever have to worry about changing clocks again.

    Garmin Autoland

I have to say, I am not a pilot, but this system seems to be a really good feature. I can imagine it would make my wife more comfortable if she were flying with me in this plane. Those who can afford an SF50 can probably afford this option. I imagine this option will sell pretty well.

Video: Flying to the Monterey Aquarium

I watched it yesterday. Great video!

Advice to all of you back yard grillers!

I have two of the Weber stainless steel grilling baskets. I let them turn into an ugly brown color after several uses, because that seasoning layer makes them nonstick.

Advice to all of you back yard grillers!

Never thought about it, but good to know. I use a wire bristle brush. I need to shop for alternatives.

    Sam's Club Blue Jeans

I have the same philosophy. I now almost exclusively wear twill no-iron button down shirts from Land's End. Those shirts are normally around fifty bucks each, but Lands End sends me emails giving anywhere from 30 to 50% off. I buy all of my shirts through those emails. Very good quality, the...

Got a deal on whole beef tenderloin, but what are the best sides

I no longer eat meat, but back when I did, a couple of my favorite sides with any beef would have been a baked sweet potato (with toppings of choice), and roasted asparagus.

    PA28 Crash in Asheboro, NC

That's very unfortunate. Prayers and sympathy for the family and friends. That's home for me. I grew up in Seagrove and went to Southwest Randolph HS. My parents still live where I grew up.

Stingy millennials to blame for sluggish economy

Agreed. Higher savings rates are better long-term for both the economy and individuals.

    My Honeypots Have Been Busy

Yep, I used to operate one during summers and holiday vacations in high school and college. It was a local farmer to my parents. Nasty, nasty smell!

    What is your favorite pie?

Pecan, way above the others. Then strawberry rhubarb, apple, chocolate chess, and key lime. Not necessarily in that order.

What would you like to add to your arsenal?

    Good to know.

What would you like to add to your arsenal?

I've considered that. I don't have a drill press. Can it be done with a hand drill, or is a drill press pretty necessary?

    Minor Forum Peeve

I appreciate it when folks do that. I can quickly follow along with someone's adventure, or have a mental picture of where in the country they're talking about without having to go to airnav or some other site to look it up.

What would you like to add to your arsenal?

I would like to get an AR-15. It's probably not going to happen anytime soon, but that's probably my next purchase.

Al Haynes, captain of UAL Flight 232, dead at 87

Wasn't he the one that controlled the throttles and therefore managed to roughly control roll and altitude? Incredible job.

Al Haynes, captain of UAL Flight 232, dead at 87

Absolutely. I attended a business conference in St. Louis back in the 90s. They had a surprise for us one day, not telling us what it was going to be until that moment. They started out the session by playing a video of the conversation back and forth with ATC and the pilots. Then they...

    Dog scare/Dog save

I've had the thought quite a few times that the average grown man would be able to handle with bare hands the average large dog. Note, I said average. I am not talking about the really strong tough dogs. But in doing so, we would probably lose a lot of skin and blood in the process, and maybe...
