    Eclipse Glasses?

But they better remember to hit the button on Friday because they can't touch the Sabbath Mode button on the Sabbath lol

And another crash at Danburt, CT

The club I rent from fills the planes to tabs in the summer and full the rest of the year. I would prefer it if they just left it after the flight and have the renter get fuel if they need it. All you have to do is call for the fuel truck and they can fill it up while you're preflighting.

    Eclipse Glasses?

Not just Israeli hospitals. My dad worked on a burn unit in NYC. He would get lots of Orthodox Jewish patients because they would do stuff like leave their stove or oven on from Friday to Sunday so they didn't have to touch the controls on the Sabbath. The hospital setup an elevator that would...

And another crash at Danburt, CT

This reminds me of when I brought a friend along to join on a lesson in a C172SP early in my training. We're both big guys and so was the CFI. My CFI said to go check how much fuel was in the plane, and it was full. Then he said to do the W&B and we were about 100 lbs overweight. Fortunately...

And another crash at Danburt, CT

Police or fire department, I think they were just emphasizing that there was lots of fuel on board and they didn't run out of fuel. Regardless, 3 big guys and fuel even at tabs would have probably put them overweight.

And another crash at Danburt, CT

I think that claim was made by the police. My guess is they saw that lots of fuel spilled out and to them that meant the fuel tanks were "full" as in not anywhere close to empty. They probably weren't thinking about full fuel vs fuel at tabs and how it all effects W&B.

I fly that kind of aircraft regularly. With full fuel and three guys they would almost certainly be overweight. With fuel at tabs and three big guys they would probably be overweight too.

Help Save Light GA at KHPN (Westchester, NY)

I just found some references to it from the 1940's. I had no idea. Any idea when it closed? My family moved there in 1988 and I think it was long gone by then. I can't believe I didn't know about that in my hometown.

    My plane on google earth

I see it. It's the only plane visible in that area.

Help Save Light GA at KHPN (Westchester, NY)

There was an airport in Dobbs Ferry? I grew up there and my family still lives there and I never heard of this.

    You should. It's hilarious.

    Embarrasing lesson

The lesson is to not grab the control wheel that way. I get that students often have a death grip on the controls, but if you always wrap your hand around the side of the control wheel handle like it was designed for then you won't inadvertently hit a switch or button.

    Embarrasing lesson

I definitely like having the trim switch there. A couple months ago I had a rental plane with a KAP140 that failed the POST. I had to pull the circuit breaker and I definitely missed the electric trim.

Don't you also have to call clearance delivery before a VFR departure. I haven't been there yet, but I hear it operates like a Class C even though it's a Class D.

So maybe the best way to tackle this problem is to spread the word to as many airport neighbors as possible that these decisions may dramatically increase the noise.

That really sucks. My parents and my brother live in Westchester. If someone were to come up with a template for a letter to representatives there I could ask them to send it.

    I want (airplane drool thread)

Yea the TBM930 is more capable in every way, but it's more than double the price. I suppose that doesn't matter for a drool thread. The SF50 does have the advantage of the chute.

Basic Med may not catch on

FYI, if you're pushing the exam out to August to try to squeeze an extra month out of it like you might do with an AME visit or BFR, just remember that the BasicMed exam is good for 48 months rather than calendar months so it would expire on 8/2/2021.

    I want (airplane drool thread)

Cabin noise is high compared to twin jets but it doesn't make sense to compare it those anyway. It makes a lot more sense to compare it to single-engine turboprops based on performance and acquisition/operating costs. As far as looks I think it looks a lot better in the 2-tone color paint rather...
