    Hot starting io-540

Plugs were all noted as like new last annual, and any bad plugs (3 of the 12) were replaced by the shop last May. They have about 35 hrs on the new plugs. Ignitoons leads were in good shape, and were new with engine overhaul 300 hrs ago. Plane is hangered. No shower of sparks. Bendix dual...

    Hot starting io-540

I know this basic topic has been done before, and I have read everyone of them. The io-540 on my PA32 will basically not hot start. I have tried multiple hot start protocols, basically every method I have found. I have had multiple knowledgable people try their methods, but basically nobody...

    An Engine Failure a day...

As we know at this point the major issues with electric planes are... 1. weight of the battery 2. Inability to be able to balance fuel vs. payload 3. Charging times and stations 4. Range Hopefully solving issue one will potentially solve all the other issues.

    406 ELT

Biggest advantage to the e04 is it is more or less a drop in replacement for the e01. It uses the same harness, wiring, and switch. It does replace the antenna and would require a cable for connection to your GPS. It saves you some money on installation. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk

Apparent plane crash on TPC Scottsdale Golf Course

This sound very logical by what is in the video. As somebody pointed out there are mountains about 2 miles straight off of the runway. Seems like they realized they were not going to clear those mountains, so they need to either turn back or get down. With the loss of altitude in the turn...

Apparent plane crash on TPC Scottsdale Golf Course

To me in the video it does not look like the plane exceeded a 15 to 20 degree bank before the wings basically go to 90 degrees. There did appear to be some wobble in the wings with several bank changes before the crash. Initially it looked like they were slowly gaining altitude, but started...

Apparent plane crash on TPC Scottsdale Golf Course

Was just reading the accident report and noticed a few contributing factors that have not been mentioned. It was 83 degrees out, and a field elevation of 1510. I calculated the DA ( base on all the conditions listed in the report) at 3378 feet. So we have a possibly overweight, maybe out of CG...

Plane Crash - Crozet (Charlottesville), VA

Not that is is safe period, but I would argue flying a jet low altitude low IFR is less safe then flying your average piston plane. The systems are so much more complex, everything happens much quicker, and stall speeds are higher. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk

Estate Planning - What to do with the Airplane?

I know the estate is free and clear, and I know any leans and taxes have been dealt with. A very good attorney is handling everything (same firm that wrote the will). NJ has all the paperwork, but just has not gotten around to final approval. Our end has been completed. The only change I am...

Estate Planning - What to do with the Airplane?

I am still waiting for the plane I am inheriting to clear probate and be handled by the FAA. So far 9 months and counting in NJ. I have not lost use of the plane and remain fully insured and legal to fly it, but the title has not been cleared for transfer yet. I know the estate has been...

Apparent plane crash on TPC Scottsdale Golf Course

Maybe a dumb question. Almost every plane I have flown was in knots on the ASI. I did fly one older Warrior that was in MPH. I really had to keep reminding myself that the speeds were different ( it was actually a dual marked ASI). Is the Comanche in MPH or knots? We have a person flying this...

Southwest oopsie - ‘woman partially sucked out of window’

Yes because the plane was " falling" out of the sky. I saw an interview with one of the passengers on CNN last night. He was telling his story about as they were going down of trying to get an internet connection so he could contact his family just in case the worst happened. But that he was...

Southwest oopsie - ‘woman partially sucked out of window’

Southwest oopsie - ‘woman partially sucked out of window’

Another thing non pilots seem to miss is that commercial passenger planes are all capable of flying decently, and are capable of performing all normal flight operations with one engine. They may be a little slower, and have reduced climb rates, but they are far far from falling out of the sky...

Southwest oopsie - ‘woman partially sucked out of window’

The pilot did a great job, good for her she deserves the credit, as does the entire flight crew. On the other hand, I would expect any captain to do exactly what was done here and done it just as well, this is why they train them, and pay them what they do. I think the incidences with the Hudson...

Preliminary results of the ERAU PA-28 accident

This is also why the initial composit planes had an airframe lifespan. If I remember the Cirrus was 6000 hrs. As the planes proved themselves and their were no composit failures seen it was raised to 12,000 hours. They now say that number may be extended as the planes get older. Sent from my...
