    A35 V tails vs C210....what's the diff?

What huge list do you speak of? My Bo (a V35B) only has a few, and they are simply "inspect" type ADs such as the uplock rollers (takes about 30 seconds) and the V tail structure inspection. None of them is particularly burdensome, and cover items which should be checked at annual time...

Mooney Rocket..... Houston, we have a problem.

A TAT TNed IO550 V35B or F33A is "4 seats" and will get you near 195 TAS at 16.5-17.0 GPH, at around 13k, nudging to 200 at 17k. The TN system is set and forget. Not sure if the kids/wife would be groovy with the O2. Many aren't. Tip tanks, depending on the vintage, gets you anywhere from 104...

Looking for a fixed gear plane in good condition... not having much luck

Hey Henning, You're on to something. Life was good right up until the market crash of 08. Lots of planes were north of 200k, and even run-out 172s generated bidding wars. Lots of people had lots of money tied up in lots of airplanes. And not just the airplanes themselves, but tens...

    AOPA "reimagined" Cessna 150/152

So it comes down if you want to replace a 150, you essentially have to build a 150. Same as a Cub....only a Cub is a Cub. There are only a certain number of airframe tweaks you can do for a certain combination of duty/load/speed/range in a particular configuration. You could slick up the...

    AOPA "reimagined" Cessna 150/152

Hey Guys, Before we dump all over AOPA and/or the 150/152, lets consider a few things: 1) A 150/152 is what it is. A two seat trainer or very light duty aircraft. It's not meant for serious cross country transportation, low IFR or load hauling. It's meant to take a beating from students or...

I bought one on clearance ($150) to display Zaon data via BT. Works great. Richman

    State of GA

I don't want to get this "spin zoned", because I think this is a valuable topic. That said, like Gov98, I'm not some nut-fudge fringer or prepper...But the entire game is rigged UNLESS you pay attention and are selective with what you do. But this is nothing new...it was like this in the day of...

    State of GA

Gen Xer here. Heard the same "lazy bones, slacker" complaints about my generation, too. I had the chance to teach some college courses back a few years, and my observation is this: There will always be a percentage of the population that are engaged, and the rest along for the ride. That's...

    Beech Musketeers

The place to get good info on Mice of all varieties is the Beech Aeroclub website. I think it's $50 to join, but it is WELL worth it. Richman

    ForeFlight's single biggest flaw

My 3 beefs with FF: 1) Cruise only fuel flow. Even your bottom rung apps have climb, cruise and descent. 2) Married to the ADS-B box. To be fair, Garmin has the same issue. 3) Won't import traffic information from a Zaon. Other apps, devices have been doing this forever. Garmin is like this also.

Which airplane to replace a Bonanza F33A?

Actually, the change was in 1987, and it depends on the serial number. Richman

    Sun N Fun or Oshkosh

IMHO, SnF is a fairly small in comparason to OSH, and seems (to me, anyway) to favor the enthusiast without trying to be "all things to all people". By that same token, its less comprehensive than OSH. We drive up from SoFL, and you can comfortably see the entire show in 2 days (and leave the...

has anyone heard of a MOA collision?

So, in other words, while the MOA airspace is reserved 24 hours in advance, whether they're actually "hot" or "cold" depends whether or not the aircraft that have reserved them actually show up, and even if they do, they may not use all of the airspace, or the airspace for the entire amount of...

has anyone heard of a MOA collision?

You guys know how something like D-ATIS works, right? Type in your message, and the machine reads it until you change it, all in the time it took to text your order to Dominos. I mean seriously, it takes all of 5 (ok, maybe 15) seconds to update. Is the MOA active, or not? Is the...

    Cessna 310R

And hot plates can be wickedly expensive to replace or repair. Unfortunately, the fluid based systems have also seriously escalated in price the last year or so. If I remember right, the TKS for Bonanza types went up something like 12-15k, and that was for the non-FIKI version. Richman

has anyone heard of a MOA collision?

Actually, I think 801's idea of an automated special use airspace information service (ASUAIS) is pretty awesome. In my particular area, MIA Center and JAX Center are the controlling agencies. Those particular sectors are SATURATED with air carrier traffic departing/arriving MCO and points...

    ADS-B receivers and Apps

Unless you have ADS-B out, then a ADS B receiver will only be providing limited traffic. I like my Zaon unit. I wish they had finished their 1090 ADS-B unit that would have merged the PCAS and ADS-B data into one data stream. Both the GDL-39 and Stratus units have unused serial ports that...

has anyone heard of a MOA collision?

I don't begrudge the mil drivers their room to play. They HAVE to have somewhere to go get their stuff done. That said, in some locations, the size, number and locations of MOAs is really pretty obnoxious. In Florida, they practically bisect the entire state. Throw in the TPA/MCO class B areas...

has anyone heard of a MOA collision?

There were a couple of deals off the east coast, 1997ish if I recall, where some military types were shadowing airliners without realizing that the TCAS would trigger resolution advisories in the passenger jet. If I remember correctly, there were a couple of incidents within a day or so, and so...

    Zaon Customer Service contact info

Maybe. It was supposed to allow you to connect your XRX to it, and then it would send both sets of data to your display device. In theory, that was a much better solution than just ADS-B in, and it would provide traffic outside of ADS-B or Radar coverage. In the past, that'd be your...
