    IPC question

130909xxxxx is the beech preferred hardware. The bolts and nuts are all magnafluxed and are marked with ink or paint to denote that. There used to be specific spots that they used to want magnafluxed hardware, but they decided to go to the shotgun approach and use it for everything. I think it...

Best X/C aircraft besides Vans RV

Avery labels are great. Makes logging mx so much easier. I always keep a copy of my entries with the work order, for quick and easy reference.

I agree with Bell. Most owners I have dealt with don't exercise the privileges they do have now properly as it is.

Ford Fiesta parasitic draw on battery??

A Ford with an electrical problem? Say it isn't so! ;) I have had several Fords over the years. They like their electrical gremlins.

Wish more owners and mechanics cared about this.

    Certified Mechanic Requirement

I spent 2.5 days at a course where every word in that statement was dissected. The class was standing room only and everyone left with a renewed sense of mortality/morality. Every task an AME performs should have the four basic elements met before the certification is done. From CAR Std 566...

    Certified Mechanic Requirement

Yep, mine too. Mx standards are so subjective across the board, even in commercial ops. I like it when I have a hard and fast dimension or tolerance to work to, making the decision to repair or replace easy to get across to Mr Owner. But many times my decisions are rooted in my experience...

    Descent Rate on Glide Slope

I like the contrast between the art and the science of this subject. Which one is right (maybe more righter?). For a more art than science discussion there is always "Stick and Rudder" by Wolfgang Langewiesche. A must read in my opinion. I know my copy has a few dog eared pages. I like the old...

    Descent Rate on Glide Slope

See How It Flies: Perceptions, Procedures And Principles Of Flight by John S. Denker I was in a similar boat, struggling with approaches and landings. Tried different things and found this book helped me. My instructor liked the thumb angle of descent indicator idea.

    Certified Mechanic Requirement

Tweak, change, adjust, modify to your heart's content. Certifications and signatures don't make a plane fly! Get free advice and knowledge from those who actually trained and got the credentials, and pay with a thank you. Good luck.

    Beta sticking on Piper Meridian

Piper seems to like reverse lockout systems, versus other manufacturers just telling the pilots to not go past the gate. I have monkeyed with old Cheyennes keeping that system working. Lots of micro switch adjustments and replacements.

    That is funny!

    Field Approval or Minor Mod?

And around and around we go. Signature shopping. If this issue is so simple and easy, then let Mr Owner do it and certify it with his licence and be done. If he can't or won't, then he can buy the PMA/STC parts and get it done and move on.

    Serious question regarding required placards

Depends on what you need and then what you want. Fuel tank placards, just buy and fill in the required quantity. Some AD's get specific (height, size, colour, etc). Some people like the roll your own with computers or label makers. Some like more elaborate styles and want something that will...
