    Borescope

Kind of the point of the boroscope inspection, isn't it? Why not make use of new(ish) technology to guide the decision process? And why not use it at each annual to document the on-going health of the valves? Do people only get their blood pressure checked after a heart attack or checked...

Whatever Happened Too Harbour Air Electric Plane

Beavers don't die. They get rebuilt to live again. I was part of an online seminar and Harbour Air was a presenter. They are looking to prove out the concept and slowly make improvements as the technology improves. They said the aircraft as it stands has a lot of extras to monitor systems and...

    1964 Cessna 150 tail

Inboard leading edge ribs like to crack. The tail cone skin and forward bulkhead like to wear and crack. There is a service kit to upgrade the bulkhead and repair the skin. These repairs require the tail to be dismantled to gain access. Don't be surprised to find other cracks and loose rivets...

Looking for help with low compression.

https://www.aviationpros.com/engines-components/article/10388599/cylinder-differential-compression-testing-subject-to-interpretation Lots of stuff to be done. Easiest would be to fly it. Also get the tester calibrated. Check the tach. If the aircraft climbs well, it is making power. If it...

    Anti-seize on spark plug threads

Sorry, Tom, I don't know. But I do know that real mechanics are supposed to follow manufacturer's recommendations. Pretty sure I read that somewhere. When substitutions are made, you better be willing to back it up with more than fluffed up feathers and bs. PS I do use nickle anti seize vs...

    Anti-seize on spark plug threads

Hmmmmm. When I install critical parts, I am very anal. Prop bolts, wing attach hardware, internal engine bolts. Spark plugs is one of them.

    Electrical Gremlin...

Google "Zeftronics+Cessna+troubleshooting". One of the first items should be a pdf, detailing how the system works and a troubleshooting guide. A very good document to help find needles in haystacks. I'd start at the connections: regulator plug, alternator, ground strap, etc. All these...

    Installing LED cockpit lighting legal?

Yep. I installed a set in an old Cherokee. Installed into the plastic trim panel if I recall, with a hole at each LED location. I considered it a minor mod.

    Teach Me About Prop Governors

Spinner will need to come off for a detailed inspection of the hub and blade roots. Also the engine oil seal. Just had to deal with a similar issue. A new seal kit was installed and no more drips and mess.

    Air-to-Air Cessna 205

Question. What is the bulge on the nose for? Does it serve any purpose or just an empty space left over from the 210 nose wheel well? 206's don't have the bulge.

    Old Carb.

Cool. I thought they sealed the spider. Learn something new everyday. I helped a guy over the phone with his 150 a long while ago with carb issues on climb out. I wonder if this was the fix? I never did hear back from him.

When to refuse to do an annual.

Freewill. People will do what they want. Best recourse is to cover your own backside. I have shown owners what the regs say and how much they are liable if they choose to ignore an AD or inspection item. They still tear into their 172 as if it were their Chevy and wonder why I get upset when the...

    Old Carb.

From the O200 reference above, the carb is attached with items 23, 24, 25, figure 12. They fit the carb to the studs, item 6. The carb attaches to the manifold. The intake manifold (spider) is attached with items 1, 2, 3, 4, figure 12. The studs for the spider are not shown in figure 12. You...
