    Beech V35 Midair Breakup

The weather has been very unsettling here in the last couple weeks. I'm sorry for your loss @robin ardoin. Local (Nashville) news is doing less than stellar reporting including the "Fork Tailed Doctor Killer" spread with some A&P/IA voicing his "opinion" to an uneducated anchor.

    Military Helo Rotorwash

Winds play into where the rotorwash drifts as well. Whenever we go into a civilian airfield, I am constantly looking to see where our rotorwash will blow and try to keep it away from GA aircraft. I agree that two to three minutes should be sufficient. I still remember the night we got rocked in...

    We ordered a Bushcat

https://www.twz.com/news-features/ukraine-appears-to-be-using-light-planes-converted-into-reusable-bomber-drones I hope somebody isn't waiting on a kit that is now a smoking hole amidst some Russian equipment. My other thought is, if I buy a Skyranger kit, can I park it in warbird parking at...

    We ordered a Bushcat

That's good to hear. I enjoyed chatting with them at Oshkosh, and Mt. Vernon, and glad to hear they are doing OK. Are you familiar with the Flylight Skyranger Nynja? I know it is related to the Bushcat, but I am curious if you had looked at it prior to deciding on the Bushcat, and what your...

    We ordered a Bushcat

I'm really bummed about this. I took a demo ride at the Mt. Vernon LSA show last fall, and came away very impressed with the airplane. I hope AeroSport continues on with their other ventures.

For Sale SOLD: Foreflight Sentry ADSB

I meant to post this a while ago, but I wanted to recognize @mandm for how easy he made this transaction. Thanks again, and it works great!

    Missing US Marine Helicopter

Interesting. We always avoid Mil fuel and went to FBO's due to quicker turnaround. Then again, it may be a regional thing here in the south. I've been in this predicament so many times in my career. I'm at the point now, where I question my crew more than I used to when it comes to CRM and...

    Toby Keith

Funny, I was there the year before in 2001 and the KBR food was excellent (at least at Camp Able Sentry). I was also there when 9/11 happened, and shortly afterword, got to fly Clint Black and some others on a USO tour in October '01. My deployment experiences went down from there, as did yours...

    Missing Plane Paris, Texas

I don't blame your wife, it's a big reason mine can't hold onto qualified, highly effective staff. They realize the pay isn't worth the abuse. Hell, HER pay isn't worth what she has to deal with. I'm not relieved to hear it's the same with kids where I am, but... Yes. It's exactly the same...

    Missing Plane Paris, Texas

Excellent post. My wife is a school administrator, and I have heard her say this almost verbatim, but it's absolutely true and the other thing is, thanks to technology it's starting much earlier. The amounts and types of stuff she deals with in a middle school environment is unbelievably brutal...

Can I become a pilot with an ELS failure to adapt discharge or a general discharge

Actually I didn't. I also had bad eyesight, but the Army gave me PRK, so I applied, but the timing didn't work out and I was not selected. I elected to stay in until retirement as a senior NCO and Non-Rated Crewmember (Flight Engineer/Crew Chief). In the end, it was a blessing, and landed me a...

Can I become a pilot with an ELS failure to adapt discharge or a general discharge

LPT: You can change your MOS in the future... And let me put it this way: the military gave me the experience to obtain my Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) certificates while I was on active duty. After I retired, I used my GI Bill to take a class that led me through the certification in two weeks...

This awesome airplane is not right for you if you need to see the logbooks

Try https://www.aerospacereports.com/ They'll get you what's on the CD in hours if not minutes, but it'll cost you more than the FAA CD at about $45. If time is of the essence, these guys are the way to go.

    Flight Suits

Look for a pair of surplus "A2CU" pants at a surplus store or on eBay. They have tan ones and multiple camo patterns. Plenty of pockets.

    ATC

ATC is something I really wish I could've done post-military retirement. I feel I might have been a good fit in that career path given the problem-solving/stress aspect of the job.

    Recommendations for Nashville

Kid Rock's Honkeytonk, top floor. You'll hear everything from Guns-n-Roses, and Def Leopard, to Johnny Cash... Beware - it gets wild.

    Ducking for helo blades?

We put a set of those line-of-sight blockers on one of our aircraft for testing, but the survey results didn't do much for us, so REGT passed on it. These new-ish systems, like the suppressors and IRCM, almost give you a shred of hope to survive a MANPAD engagement!
