    A36 wedges under C310 at KDYL 11/18/2024

For some reason that picture reminds me of the scene in Smokey and the Bandit where Buford T Justice tries to take off while still on the floor Jack and runs into the parked car with Junior on the hood…

french fries (N/A, for potato's sake)

Onion rings over fries any day for me. Steak fries top my list, along with the fries that are about 5/16” square and look fresh-cut on site (no idea what they’re called, but common in a good local pub/burger place). I like crinkle fries, but always feel like they’re straight from an...

    Restaurant Feedback

Have you reached out to the manager/owner directly? I’ve done this in the past with some success. They get the message and typically appreciate that you reached out to them before posting an online review. They’re used to folks immediately resorting to putting them on blast online (including...

    Growler Down

Like everyone, was hoping for news that they got out and were somehow safe. RIP to the pilots and my condolences to their friends, Navy brothers/sisters, and family.

FFS. I need a new hobby.

Bit of a thread drift, but related…I follow an auto repair shop on YouTube. He regularly mentions the throwaway mentality of the auto-makers now. He showed an example of a late-model truck (less than 7 years old if memory serves) with a leaking transmission input seal. Other than labor costs, no...

    Non-Etching Primer

Not positive, but there’s an epoxy primer called “2K” (if memory serves, been awhile). It’s available at auto body paint stores and it has a catalyst that you puncture in the can via a button on the bottom. Once punched you have x amount of pot life (I think a few hours). Great stuff and...

Passenger lands King Air in Bakersfield

Yes, I recall that one as well. Think this might be it? https://asn.flightsafety.org/wikibase/235619 Edit: yep, more detailed account. https://www.aopa.org/news-and-media/all-news/2009/april/14/unintentional-king-air-pilot-an-interview-with-doug-white

    shade tree engine mount repair

I believe so. I recall a Biplane, sport, or F1 (can’t recall which) landing at Reno with the engine hanging from cables. There was also Relentless (sport) having the prop come from together. Not a full engine falling off, but still…

AOG for over a year and waiting on a conti crankshaft - Boeing has missed three "guaranteed" ship dates

I’d bet they improperly torqued the through-bolts and the bearing spun…”cam hit the case” sounds like a load of hooey to me. It would also explain having to suddenly send the crank off…

Plane loaded with drugs makes emergency landing on Southern California highway

If someone is using the product they’re transporting and their “management” finds out, an emergency landing is going to be the least of their concerns…

Plane loaded with drugs makes emergency landing on Southern California highway

Depends on location. My area won’t typically charge anyone except the driver, unless there’s something indicating it was in the specific possession of the passenger. Constructive possession isn’t a thing here, at least in my county. Actually, they don’t seem to charge anyone with anything, but...

    [NA] Auto insurance

(I kid, I kid…) Agreed on shopping around. While I’ve been generally very happy with my insurance, their rates are climbing as well with no incidents on my part, and a newish vehicle (5 yrs old), so not obsolete for repairs but not brand-new either. Been with them since 2001, house with them as well.

    Airline Exit Rows

I would have paid good money to see that verbal attitude adjustment on display. Nothing finer than watching an entitled twit getting set straight.

    Airline Exit Rows

That’s interesting. A friend who is a first responder and an amputee (one lower leg is prosthetic) got told by an FA that he had to move from the exit row when she saw his prosthetic. This was despite his “yes” answer, his obvious healthy/athletic physical condition, and him informing her that...
