    What happened to Jim Tweto?

Seems like there was a thread here but it's gone now and even a Google search pretty much shows complete silence over the past week.

Suburban man aimed laser pointer at state police plane

Well if you get killed in a car crash you will most likely be forever eulogized in the news as a "motorist" because that's pretty much all they've got on you.

Suburban man aimed laser pointer at state police plane

I have one of those visible beam lasers. About the size of a double-A flashlight it's great for teaching astronomy and reading star charts. Be careful turning it on in a room with mirrors or glass top tables though as it can quickly turn into a scene from Mission Impossible with a dozen laser...

Trent Palmer (YouTuber Bush Pilot Channel) Suspended By FAA

Jeeze this whole incident should have been over and done with three years ago. Now we're gonna have a podcast?

    Questions about jobs

The most economical route is a community college that has an aviation curriculum. It takes time but if you get the licenses the rest will follow. It's that whole "journey of a thousand steps starts with the first one" thing.

    Sub lost contact over Titanic

I know you've been corrected but just for the record it was Lt. Selfridge who died and it was in the Write flyer with Orville as pilot. He was the first person killed in an airplane crash. He also was a member of the Aerial Experiment Association along with Glenn Curtiss and Alexander Graham...

    Help with airplane choice

Really depends on your budget. You said EX3 looks good, that's about $200k by the time you're done and you'd have to build it yourself. You could get an old 180 or heck probably a Helio Courier for that price. On the other hand a Maule, a Scout, a Pacer or even a 170 you could get for way less...

What is Going on at KBJC (Rocky Mountain Metropolitan Airport)/Cost to Relocate Port a Port Hangar

What about the FAA? There is a local city owned airport around here that the managers have been trying to shut down but due to decades of FAA funding and agreements they haven't been able to find a viable way of doing it. They do however go out of there way to make the tenants lives somewhat...

    Sub lost contact over Titanic

Kind of hard to put a nail in this. The media is all over the "tourist" aspect but it was sort of billed as privately funded scientific research and the exorbitant, as it was, ticket price really just basically funded the adventure. It's not like it was a scam or a viable business model that was...

    Remember Sum Ting Wong?

I suppose you could manually close the outflow valves, turn off bleed air and descend. Not that anyone would ever do that. It would blow the safety reliefs at one point though.

Things Flight Instructors get Wrong - VOR isn't what you thought, etc.

Wow, I was thinking they were gone by the 30's. Remember LORAN?, that hung on long past it's due date too.

Buzzing houses going in Schuylerville NY

Not the same I know but this reminded me of the Marvin Heemeyer story. The guy had this ongoing beef with the city council about something or other so one day he buys an old bulldozer, pulls it into his workshop and isn't seen for a couple of months during which time he basically builds himself...

Things Flight Instructors get Wrong - VOR isn't what you thought, etc.

I wonder if there is anyone still alive that actually used A-N radio ranging to navigate in their early career? Now that I think of it probably not, they'd have to be like 120 years old by now.

    Something going on around DC

could be, I have a very dim recollection of it. It's really bad so if that's your thing you'll like it.

    Something going on around DC

Nope, I looked it up it was called "Horizon Line" same thing, a vacationing couple in a Cessna 208 with a dead pilot and much ensuing stupidity.

    Something going on around DC

No I think there was a worse one, can't remember the name, but the guy had to actually go outside the plane in flight to close a door or something on the cowl. It was stoopid beyond anything you could imagine.

Things Flight Instructors get Wrong - VOR isn't what you thought, etc.

I have a college book by Sperry on navigational instruments and under the topic of gyroscopic precession it states: "An explanation of gyroscopic precession is beyond the scope of this book"

    Typical Guy Wires

Okay but personally I don't fly below the elevation of ground based obstacles without a reconnoiter, that's just the way I was taught. "Didn't have time to check it out" ain't a very good excuse if you hit something.

Yea, him and The Critical Drinker. The Scottish accent goes a long way for making a YT video more interesting. I was watching this Australian guy filming blokes going round the track in their gay cots. Yea we call them go-carts here.

Well you're in an airplane. You can just fly over the tower and look down and SEE exactly where the anchors are. Seems a lot simpler than trying to fly an airplane and do trigonometry at the same time.
