    DOGE and the FAA

It's not a "Department" Congress are the ones who can create those.

What is too windy for training in a 172?

At some point the training ends and you become a pilot and the fact is that it is impossible to always accurately predict what the wind is going to be at your destination. Mostly you're going to have a good idea but sooner or later you'll be faced with the unexpected. So the question of "what is...

    DOGE and the FAA

Considering what we have here in the US, in regards to General Aviation and compared to any other country in the world, I wouldn't want some dogey commission (let alone one led by Elon Musk) going at it with a machete and creating havoc. Despite the "red tape" you can't go anywhere else and do...

    Log book theft?

I used to photocopy the logbooks of every aircraft I did an annual on and keep them in a file on my computer. Perhaps the mechanic has such a file? Copies are just as good as the original since it is the information that is pertinent, not the actual physical book.

    Avionics Master Switch Question

It's kind of a trick diagram. The line for the avionics contactor relay should be drawn below the contact points.

Owner Assisted Annuals are Now Outlawed unless Supervised 100%.

Of the INSPECTION. It has nothing to do with the peripheral tasks required to accommodate that inspection.

Owner Assisted Annuals are Now Outlawed unless Supervised 100%.

This is just getting ridiculous, lets call it an affliction - Chronic Overinterpretation Syndrome. It starts with a guy who simply has no confidence in himself to read a regulation and not be filled with doubt or fear that there is some conspiratorial trap laying in wait to snare him. So he asks...

    Las Vegas recommendations

Somewhat off topic but I'm planning to go to Vegas on the 9th of October when they are going to flatten the Tropicana Casino so I can finally check "building implosion" off my bucket list.

An evening with a B17 in Atwater CA

I flew there in a Citabria once. Held it off as long as I could but still hadn't got to the end of the displaced threshold when it set down. After that I taxied through this virtual city of giant jet blast structures for about five minutes to the tiedown area were I used some ropes to tie off to...

    Compression too high?

And the manufacturers generally say the first step after failing a compression test is to go fly it for a couple of hours and try again.

    Compression too high?

The compression test, oh boy, there are so many misconceptions. The reason you put 80 psi in the cylinders is so that if the prop gets away from you it might knock you out but it won't chop your arm off or kill you. The purpose is to detect if or where any leakage is. It's not a conclusive...

    Thoughts on Bellanca's 7 ACA

I learned in a J3 back in 1969 when I was 15. There's only so much you're going to get from it, eventually you gotta move up. That being said, after 55 years of flying I've gone full circle and now I'm in a 90 hp Champ just to keep scratching that itch.

Elon does not read this forum, apparently

Anybody who has been in the military knows that it is a complete cluster (you know what) in regards to efficiency. It has a single purpose and that is to annihilate any enemy that threatens us regardless of cost which, by nature of it's core mission, is messy.

    Self serve fuel pump etiquette

If I had done that somehow I would have been caught. :(

Elon does not read this forum, apparently

It's the same argument that unions shelter the lackluster as if management had no lackluster, only the best and the brightest. Yea right... lol

    Anyone available to review logbooks?

My take on this is that when the OP says "send it off to inspection" it means they have decided to purchase the aircraft however there is something of question in the logs that may cause them to decide not to.

    Scooters safe for GA?

I bought one with the same idea but after riding it around the airport decided there was no way I was going to take it out onto roads or streets. The difference between a scooter and a skateboard is that when you go down you'll be holding onto handlebars.

    Why switched grounds?

I remember when I was a young lad and still "learning" my mechanical aptitude skills I was working on my Ford F-250 and I had to move the alternator out of the way. Thing is I forgot to disconnect the battery and when I popped the alternator out of it's bracket it firmly wedged itself between...

Tailwheel time...does it matter what its in?

I have a 1946 Luscombe that came with all of the logbooks. Back in the early days people used to log their flights in those books. The original owner picked the plane up in Texas and immediately headed for Fairbanks Alaska. It took him 57 hours.
