How to choose a cruise RPM for tach time on JPI 930

You're all saying the same thing but from a different perspective. The confusion is from MauleSkinner saying "your overhauls will last a lot longer" Stewardb, as I first did, seems to have taken that as "you will take longer to get to TBO" but I think MauleSkinner was actually saying "your tach...

How to choose a cruise RPM for tach time on JPI 930

you are saying the same thing as the person you are arguing with. he’s saying setting it higher slows down the tach timer, and you’re saying no setting it lower speeds it up. same thing. but the engine doesn’t care about “true” hours. it cares about wear which is a function of rpm. setting the...

How to choose a cruise RPM for tach time on JPI 930

I appreciate the input but I feel like people aren't reading my post at all. I know how to set for cruise power in an airplane. I'm trying to figure out how somebody decides what speed to base the tach rpm off of This sounds about right, but again is there some literature somewhere on how to...

How to choose a cruise RPM for tach time on JPI 930

yes, i mentioned this above. after 10 hours you can't change the tach settings. but how do you decide what tach setting to use? POH says cruise is 2100-2625 rpm. so do i just pick one? on what basis?

How to choose a cruise RPM for tach time on JPI 930

That's what I thought it was when we had the R engine. But we had an ordinary tach at that time so not sure. That's my thinking as well, 2400 too fast. The redline on the standard U engine is 2400 rpm but we have the John Jewell STC which increases it to 2625 rpm. There is not a "proper"...

How to choose a cruise RPM for tach time on JPI 930

We have a JPI 930 in our partnership 182. We just went from a O470R to an O470U with the 252hp STC (higher redline). What would be an appropriate cruise RPM for our tach timer to be based off of? I don't think there's any requirement for this to be x vs y. Obviously it's to our advantage...

because he wants to try and "stick it" to the FAA by getting into an airplane immediately after losing his flying privileges he's immature and foolish. and it's dangerous because he doesn't realize it

Da-40 crashes in Utah, 4 dead

I fly a very similar DA40 regularly and the W&B posted online is wrong somewhere. It says the maximum gross weight is 2646 lbs, yet the empty weight is 1754 lbs and the useful load is 781 lbs. 1754 + 781 = 2535 lbs. The early DA40's had a standard max takeoff weight of 2535 lbs, and there is a...

I like how in the video he just posted of him flying in a plane to mail his cert back to the FAA he was...not wearing a parachute. Hmm.......

Go look it up for yourself, he has no certificates anymore. Good riddance. Hope he has broken other laws in doing this that he can actually see some serious punishment for this utterly idiotic stunt.

Soybean or cornfield emergency landing debate

yes and no. trevor has done all sorts of "interesting" and quite obviously fake videos for views. the one about his dog nearly killing him on takeoff being one. and miraculously the few seconds of the flight where he had no video. what luck! ridgewallet has seen all that and decided to still...

    Taylorcraft down California

I think the YouTube video is enough to pull his cert permanently. I doubt it alone would be enough evidence to convict him criminally of anything. I think most of us pilots have a good idea of which FAR's were hurt in the production of his video, but I am no lawyer and have no clue what, if any...

i left that out intentionally actually, while it is certainly possible i don't think anybody has any evidence that he did that ahead of or without the consent of the NTSB. their report specifically notes they "didn't attend the accident location" so for all we know they told him they had no...
