    checkride and hearing attention

I think the CFI was constantly distracting me. Sometimes I think he was genuinely conversing and other times I wasn't sure. Maybe it was all distraction. Some of my "listening" issues might be because of all the conversation and blocking some of it out and then not getting the instruction...

    CG changing stall characteristics

And this person told me that the airlines do the same thing....except instead of beer cans in the back they pack the bodies in the back.

    Failed Checkride for stupidity

So you completed the other portions after landing on 22? Did you know at the time or not? I wonder what a DE does to retest? It seems like such a simple thing to go back out and show you can do another pattern the right way. And if you did another pattern the right way that day it seems like...

    CG changing stall characteristics

What will change if the CG is moved aft? My Gleim book says...."As the CG is moved aft, the airplane flies at a lower angle of attack at a given airspeed because of reduced tail-down force....thus the critical angle of attack will be exceeded (causing the airplane to stall) at a lower...

    FSS frequencies

That is helpful. And I now I understand why transmitting on one and listening on another might be used per this article...."a handy technique if you have a single navcom" Thanks everyone.

    FSS frequencies

Maybe this is part of the problem. I'm using a digital one provided thru one of the ipad apps I use and there's no legend or discussion. I found a pdf legend but not that part you're talking about. I'll get it and read it.

    FSS frequencies

Ok, so I can use that frequency to transmit to them and I have to use a VOR frequency to listen. So I could listen on a VOR or a station. What's a station? I'm assuming a station is a frequency that's listed above the box? If I use a station/frequency above the box, why would I ever call the FSS...

    FSS frequencies

Seems like there are quite a few to pick from and that makes me wonder why. Is 122.0 and 122.2 a universal FSS frequency that can be used anywhere? Also, the R next to one....I'm wondering....is that frequency ever used if others are available? That R...it means receive. So the FSS receives...

Can anyone help me with this private pilot IACRA online thing?

I'm confused. But I blame it on the instructions. I can't get past this section....see the pics. What am I supposed to enter for Completion of Required Test/Certificate Sought? This is for PP.

    checkride and hearing attention

Sometimes my hearing attention isn't always 100%. I'm concentrating on something and my CFI might tell me an altitude or heading but I have not always heard it. I wonder if I can ask the DE before we takeoff if he will repeat it if I seemed to have not reacted. My hearing is fine but I have to...

    coordinated flight question

When the ball is not exactly in between the center markings I understand that to mean that it's uncoordinated. Other than getting the ball in the exact middle, is that the only thing that makes the plane coordinated? If the ball is slightly outside the center....say on the line, technically...

    Checkride - My story.

Why couldn't you do the other maneuvers? Is it because the fuel pump issue is part of the take-off checklist and therefore take-offs were not allowed for the rest of the ride?

spark plug fouling and alternate static source questions

My 172R manual says that engine roughness could be spark plug fouling and to test the mags. The manual says to correct it by leaning or enriching after a few minutes but it didn't say if I should keep it on the mag that produced the roughness. Should it stay on that mag when leaning or enriching...

    The panel things

I forgot my to look closely once I got in the plane so I went back after flying to take the pictures and then someone else needed the a/c so I don't have all the model #s. The GPS is the one I wanted for sure so I got that but I would appreciate and videos you have. Are they online?

    The panel things

Here are 2 pics. Why would the supplement 21 Bendix/King KMD 550 infomation be in the flight manual if that is not in the panel? The GPS is Bendix/King KLN 89 so I'll look that info up on the net.

I'm gonna find out the brands and model info tomorrow. I'll take pics of the panel as well.

    The panel things

At least someone feels about the same way. I'll do the FS thing. The GPS that's in the plane is one of those without a moving map. It's got the tracking thing but that's about it. I think I can use the GPS with the CDI when I push that white GPS button. Not sure but the GPS will act like a...

    The panel things

I'm flying a 172R. Damn I hate to read through confusing manuals. Brings up too many more questions. I'm eternally challenged with that. I have FS but it's....it's...it just seems like I'm playing and I guess I don't feel like I have time for a game. But I'll go look at it. I've tried a...

    The panel things

Good idea. I guess they'd have to move the plane inside or somehow connect it to external power. Since it would be on the ground there would be some limitations to using the navigation functions. I might ask if they can do that for me though. If anyone knows of videos I'd like to check them out.

    The panel things

I'm still a student and when I fly I usually use the minimum tools necessary to get done what I need to get done. And I'm looking outside for traffic so I can't play with the options. And the options aren't really much. There's no glass on this thing either. What I'd like to be able to do is...
