    New Grill

Charcoal is manly, but propane is fast and efficient enough to use it after work during the week. I got the Weber Genesis a couple of years ago and it put the joy back in cooking on the deck. Weber has a grilling school in St. Louis. The classes I want have been full.

    Guilty Pleasures

Keebler’s Fudge Sticks. Not the Stripes. The ones with the wafers and layers of white frosting covered in chocolate fudge. I feel a grocery run coming on.

Don’t think I’ve seen it abbreviated before but to increase my aviation vocabulary...SA = Situational Awareness?

iPad v. iPad mini for flight?

I use it on a kneeboard, in a Warrior. I’m not sold on yoke mounting it just yet.

iPad v. iPad mini for flight?

I had a mini, loved it, but sometimes it was a little small for a quick glance. I traded it in for a 10.5” Pro. The difference is amazing, and while it definitely feels bigger it’s really not much different than having a paper chart folded up on the kneeboard. Easily stays clear of the yoke...

Roadblocks in purchasing a plane. What can I do?

OP, make sure you check VREF on the value of the plane. Lenders are going to calculate the value there, and that down payment AOPA mentions will end up being much more. If the asking price is signficantly more than VREF, you need to negotiate with the seller...and be prepared to walk away to...

    Roomba

We picked up a Roomba on sale a couple of years ago. It’s assigned to basement duty, but it occasionally makes it upstairs to do things like vacuum under beds. It’s kinda cool to watch it, as long as you don’t need to see anything resembling a logical pattern. It moves around like it’s got...

    AOPA, EAA, neither, and why?

EAA — For the people, for AirVenture. Oriented to guys like me who aren’t doing this for a living, but it certainly has brought opportunities for me to meet guys who’ve done it for a living and done it forever. I wouldn’t have a lot of those opportunities otherwise. AOPA — Services and...

    Attempted Scam

I’ve stopped answering my office phone, it’s invariably a cold call or a phishing attempt. People who need to talk to me have my cell number. And even that’s not safe these days.

    RIP Art Bell

One of my first civilian jobs after I left the Army involved 12-hour overnight shifts. Art Bell kinda kept me awake some nights. I also got addicted to rebroadcasts of old time radio shows.

    OshKosh

We like Monday - Wednesday, same reason as @rwellner98. Now that they have the Wednesday night show, I don’t feel like I’m missing as much by heading home Thursday or Friday.

New Addition to the POA Fleet

No, post-2009 paint, I have the “before” picture and it was pretty standard white over maroon 1978. Looked just like one I’ve been renting and thoroughly enjoyed flying.
