that sucks. I saw your ads - nice plane at a nice price. I've been eyeballing mooneys lately. Yours was just a pinch outside my price range. good luck with your sale when you relist !

a bit different "what plane should I buy" question

I'm not opposed to taildraggers at all, and would absolutely consider a Maule in my price range

a bit different "what plane should I buy" question

I've looked into them, and would absolutely buy a nice one. I've read conflicting reports that they are a great taildragger to learn in, and simultaneously that an 0-470 powered one is '"too much plane for a beginner". I've also read that the 0-470 helps the climb (much needed at this altitude)...

a bit different "what plane should I buy" question

I suppose "fast enough" is relative. Even a Cherokee 140 or a cessna 172 would be faster than making the same trip on the ground

a bit different "what plane should I buy" question

yeah, I've never owned a boat, an RV, or an airplane, so ... we'll see !

a bit different "what plane should I buy" question

since I'm new to this, I'm trying to be ultra conservative. leave money in the bank over purchase price for taxes, pre buy, impending annual, transport, hangar deposit (?) a starting maintenance / repair / engine fund and stuff I'm sure I haven't thought of. Hopefully I've reasonably estimated...

a bit different "what plane should I buy" question

you're absolutely right about the budget. it's a severe limiting factor. I'll keep adding to the account, and at some point the "money available" line will intersect with the "plane available" line. I've started shopping, and am ready to buy, but if it doesn't happen for six months or a year or...

I'm surprised it took this long for someone to mention Bonanza ! There are some beautiful ones out there for great money, but .... the insurance of a retract

she has no issue getting in and out of a Cherokee. She has yet to try any high wing, though she can get in and out of our Suburban ok

fair warning. this plane is a rebuilt wreck with bad logbooks and a shady owner.

a bit different "what plane should I buy" question

    I should've mentioned that I'm not particularly long legged -- 5' 7" 30" inseam. 210lb wife is 5'0", and one legged (above the knee amputee) 125lb 16 year old is about 5' 5", 30"ish inseam, 120lb

a bit different "what plane should I buy" question

currently shopping for a plane. I've read tons of these types of posts, but barely see answers to the question I want to ask. Before that though - my mission - primary - fly myself, my wife, and my 16 year old 500+ miles to see family. Secondary - fly the kids around when we get there. Tertiary...

So, student pilots.. Who are we and where do we stand?

got 10 hours in june / july, then stupid family drama happened, I'm stuck on the ground. Right now looks like until November. I'm scheming and dreaming of a way to make it September instead, but it's not looking likely.

which plane best fits this mission?

I've been watching Comanches lately, because they really seem like a great answer for the "real" 4 seat XC, but insurance for a low time pilot has gone through the roof on them - I have seen $4600 / year. Same for a Cherokee 6. Not sure how some of the other choices fair in this regard.

Discovery Flight: My first piston single ride!

love it ! I had almost the exact same experience a couple weeks ago (except no vertigo) -- I'm supposed to go back up tomorrow and sunday, and now I'm stressing it because rain is forecast for the whole weekend :(

    More on noise at GAI

I'm 3/4 mile west the final of KCOS. I agree with sarangan --- ground noise bothers me more than airplane noise. My dogs are the worst ! Great Pyrenees bark at EVERYTHING ! Every now and then one of the big jets comes in louder / lower than the rest of the traffic, I can see how that would bug...
