Plane in wires near KGAI (Montgomery County, MD)

A current TV newscast following the story indicates three souls on board. All alive, but injuries, if any, not yet known. What is "the DMV"?

    Extension Cord Across Taxiway?

A less obvious problem eventually caused by frequent impacts of rolling objects, would be damage to the insulation of the extension cord itself, which could result in short circuits ... and even more problems. I could just envision a rapidly taxiing C-150 snatching the extension cord with its...

WBTV News Chopper Down In Charlotte NC

The story I read on Powers' crash was that the fuel gauge had been replaced but that the old one had been misreading for so long, Powers probably mentally adjusted the readings of the new gauge, as he had habitually done with the old inaccurate one. Expectation bias? Or sumthin'.

WBTV News Chopper Down In Charlotte NC

Francis Gary Powers and his cameraman died in the crash of their Los Angeles KNBC news helicopter on 01 August 1977. The Bell 206 Ranger apparently ran out of fuel due to an uncalibrated recently-installed fuel gauge. Powers had reportedly picked out an emergency landing site, but had to abort...

    B17 crash at Dallas.

Yes, the video is from last year's show; however, it indicates to me, if to no one else, that pilot briefings are not really mandatory for this event nor a requirement of the sponsoring organization. A verbally relayed briefing (message) will almost always differ from the original ... sometimes...

    B17 crash at Dallas.

Here's a video that shows part of the pilot briefing. The briefing portion starts at about the 5:25 mark. That so many pilots are absent at the briefing roll call is a bit unsettling.

    B17 crash at Dallas.

It appears that, from FlightofTwo's post, that there was a plan, and it was adequately briefed; however, as high-lighted in Piperonca's above post, the fighters were sacrificing the safety of their vertical separation for a high speed pass in front of airshow center. If that was the plan, it...

    B17 crash at Dallas.

Understanding of the videos may (and that's a big "may") become clearer once the written show plan becomes available. Has that plan become available? Has it been confirmed that there is such a plan?

    Caravan down outside of Seattle

On Caravans, the radar pods are almost always mounted on the right wing, just outboard of the wing strut attachment point. With that in mind, it appears that what is shown in the photo posted by Kenny Phillips is the top of the right wing. There also appears to be a gaping hole in the wing at...

Comanche Gear Up Landing at I73

Whatever happened to the Q-tip prop design? I remember seeing a couple on light twins on the GAC ramp at MIA years ago. As quietly as the design appeared, it went away.

    Cuban Pilot defects in AN-2

Due to security at the TNT (Training and Transition) Airport, my guess is that this was an authorized crew from Cuba returning the aircraft; however, Mack's Fish Camp (near the reported crash site) is located about 26 miles to the ENE. If this had been an authorized flight to Cuba, it would...

    B17 crash at Dallas.

I don't intend to widen an already existing emotional wound, but can you give us a link to the video? I firmly believe that airshow events will continue ... but with some changes.

    B17 crash at Dallas.

You weren't rude, and I accept your apologies, although none were needed ... I guess that I (and many other members of this forum) am feeling a bit thin skinned about this crash and all it involves. I think this crash has all of us a bit edgy, because it involved people regarded to be the best...

    B17 crash at Dallas.

AS aggie06 pointed out, ser. no. 42-68941, a P-63A was not involved in this crash, and I take all responsibility for my erroneous posts indicating that it was; however, I will not remove the posts because one includes a link to an interesting history of P-36A, Ser. No. 42-68941.

I hope you stay with it, because you have provided the best information (not conjecture) of this thread.

    B17 crash at Dallas.

To save folks the effort of finding my Post #157, I decided to quote myself to get the personal information into this post. Here's a link to the history of the P-63 involved in yesterday's crash: https://airbasegeorgia.org/wp-content/uploads/2022/02/History-_CAF_P-63A-6_sn-42-68941.pdf It...

    B17 crash at Dallas.

Years ago (I'm guessin' 1970 or 1971), I was traveling in West Central Mississippi, when I spotted an airport not too far off the main highway. I turned around and found the airport, which, as I recall, was just a grass strip with a few shade hangars on it. Beneath one hangar bay was what I...

    B17 crash at Dallas.

I think I understand where you're coming from, but, as the saying goes, "someone has to do it". This guy is the head of the CAF, and an ex-military pilot (officer). My military days are long past, but I believe (I don't know from current experience) that officers are still selected and trained...
