Yet another deadly crash in Nepal

Maybe it's my ignorance, or just the fact that I've not yet had my morning coffee, but, in the context of your post, what are "CA" and "OE"?

Yet another deadly crash in Nepal

You're absolutely right about using aileron in the face of an incipient stall. It seems that the use of rudder is not something that is emphasized, or even taught, these days. The pedals on the floor aren't just for brakes.

Yet another deadly crash in Nepal

I agree with every thing you say, when it comes to flight in IMC; however, the video of the Yeti ATR upset shows VMC. In VMC, at low altitudes, one can always "look out the window" while paying attention to the sensory cues (as you pointed out, stick shaker etc.) being provided by the airplane...

Yet another deadly crash in Nepal

There are two separate videos (AHMED and Gupta) included in the above link, yet they are focused on the same piece of flaming wreckage: AHMED's at 26/30, and Gupta's at 12/45. This leads me to question the credibility of one, or both, of the videos. Also, is it possible for a camera (cell...

Yet another deadly crash in Nepal

The video shows a very high angle of attack; however, it's not clear to me if the flaps had been deployed ... or not. Was the aircraft properly configured for approach/landing? It appears that the aircraft stalled at a low altitude and dropped the left wing, with the inevitable result. It...

    D. B. Cooper and IFR

While the statute of limitations for hijacking an aircraft is either 5 or 7 years (I've forgotten which), such an offense would probably lead to charges of kidnapping, for which there is no statute of limitation. I had to look this up fer a friend, who had to keep on the move and had no...

    D. B. Cooper and IFR

You forgot your flaps and slats. I see someone leaving. Is that the way the cabin crew dealt with unruly passengers "back in the day"?

    D. B. Cooper and IFR

I haven't read the book, but I thought the movie was entertaining. The movie, "The Pursuit of D.B. Cooper", is available on Blu ray and stars Robert Duvall, Treat Williams and Kathryn Harrold.

Baggage Handler Killed in Montgomery (Jet Engine)

What I've learned over the years, is that some of the most dangerous conditions encountered on an active aircraft ramp involve perils that are essentially invisible. By that, I mean moving propeller/rotor blades are nearly invisible as is the low pressure inlet and high pressure exhaust of a...

Baggage Handler Killed in Montgomery (Jet Engine)

My guess, since this incident resulted in a fatality and substantial damage (engine tear down at the very least?) to an aircraft, the NTSB will take the lead on this one; however, the FAA and OSHA probably will be "parties to the investigation" and will issue their own reports.

NTSB Comments on Ethiopian 737 MAX investigation

The French Bureau d’Enquêtes et d’Analyses (BEA) also feels that the Ethiopian Report neglected significant Human Factors involved in the crash. https://www.avweb.com/aviation-news/french-investigators-join-ntsb-in-criticizing-ethiopian-737-max-report/?MailingID=1168

NTSB Comments on Ethiopian 737 MAX investigation

That was part of the Lion Air Flt 610 scenario (29 Oct 2018). I believe that the Indonesian Lion Air 610 crash of October, 2018 was due, in part, to an aircraft that was not airworthy and should not have even left the gate for departure. That B-737MAX had experienced severe flight control...

NTSB Comments on Ethiopian 737 MAX investigation

The NTSB has some significant disagreement with the conclusions of the Ethiopian Aviation Authority's report on the investigation of the March 2019 crash of a Boeing 737 MAX. https://www.avweb.com/aviation-news/ntsb-challenges-ethiopian-aviation-authority-on-max-crash-final-report/?MailingID=1163

I watched the video more than once, but somehow missed the part where Salty allegedly "freaked out". Where is that part of the video?
