the cast of Airplane! on Today show.

Love it I had the opportunity to meet Leslie Neilson many many years back, I was at dinner with my girlfriend at the time and her grandparents in Fort Lauderdale and I recognized him, they about killed me for what I told them I was gonna do it, but I did it anyway and Leslie Neilson pulled...

    Sun N Fun 2018

Glad to see some guys are going! As it gets closer it would be great to pass on info of where our birds will be parked or a place at the event to meet up even briefly to meet some fellow POA’rs

Are Large or small jets easier to fly?

What a classic 700 procedure, I could grease the 200 on, the 900 I had down but the 700, I think it’s one of the hardest planes to land well consistently, those gear right behind the point of rotation, try to squeeze some extra flare for that smooth touch down, nope, gear to the ground. As some...

    Sun N Fun 2018

Who's planning on going? Assuming I can bid it off, which I think I should be able to, I'm planning on being there the 14/15 (Sat & Sun), possibly the 13th too. Anyone else going to be flying or driving in? If I can make it it'll be my 9th year in a row flying in.

    Landing at VFR Minimums

question about the ability to pick up the IFR clearance if you needed it. If it's a 172 I'm assuming it has no icing capability, in which case if the tower was calling light snow, wouldn't the freezing level have been low enough to possibly include icing in the clouds? Let alone the active snow...

Gave another new controller a ride

That's awesome, I know controllers sometimes do fam flights, i would love to have one in my jumpseat one day, I think it would be great to share the other side with them, and for me to bother them with questions!

    Airliners and Icing/deicing

No it’s not required, nor is it required for the airport to have any sort of ice or snow removal for the surfaces, check out the current NOTAMs for CHS airport is closed cause they can’t clear anything It’s up to the airline to decide if the cost of maintaining and training a de ice crew and...

    Autothrottles

On the 757 we have to click them off for landing, I generally click them off around 100-200 feet or so. If it’s really windy sometimes I’ll click them off early simply because sometimes it just can’t keep up with what’s going on and what you’re doing, since it doesn’t know your next move...

    Ratchet Straps for Tie Down?

Count me for one who uses ratchet straps I’m hangared at my home base, but I keep them in the plane just Incase. Everywhere I go generally has ropes so I’ll just tie it down. I’ve used the ratchet straps at Sun N Fun every year I’ve gone and it’s been great so far

    Question for the Airline Pilots

we do indeed do walk arounds, typically the FO or the second officer does it if its a three man crew, however when I was captain on the CRJ and it was the Bahamas in the winter it was funny how it took me and the FO to do the walk around :D....when I was flying the CRJ's we did a preflight walk...

    Question for the Airline Pilots

I love the job, couldn’t imagine doing anything else. Everything about the airlines is seniority so if you’re thinking about doing it do it now rather than later I don’t live in base so when I was at the regionals I was one of the more seniors guys I chose to fly 4 4-day trips a month, so I’d...

Can a private pilot land a big boy?

Of course if there’s a million emergencies etc it wouldn’t be easy at all, and it wouldn’t be easy from the beginning regardless. I’m talking about the straight situation. Private pilot in the flight deck at cruise can you get him down. I stand by yes. And of course the controller won’t tell...

Can a private pilot land a big boy?

Being able to talk to company over a frequency ie airinc etc is fairly common, it wouldn’t be difficult to get in touch with them. Also in such a scenario I don’t believe the company would have a difficult time getting a hold of an instructor for that aircraft seeing as at least one is always...
