How bad is storing your plane on tie downs and not in a hangar?

I keep mine in a hangar. I live on the east coast of FL and keeping it outside to me simply isn't an option. The cost would be less, but the airport I'm based at is a busy class C and the option is hangar, or don't base there. There's no tiedown parking at my airport. And convenience is my...

    100th airport

211 airports over 44 states and 10 countries. To be fair work has contributed the vast majority of that. I have been trying to get to every paved strip in my home state with my plane, but Florida has a lot more airports than I realized!

    Buying a Plane......Which One?

I came here to see if Bonanza had already been a response, and I was not disappointed classic, really the most classic of classics on POA these days. :D

    Largest non-complex single engine aircraft?

A new Cessna T206H Stationair HD has a base useful load of 1,441Lbs. So for people saying it’s not possible to get close in a single piston of reasonable size, I say see here! It is indeed possible. But you’ll pay for it of course. And the plane is not complex but for the op the above would be...

    Daily Pic

Switched from a full service FBO to a T-Hangar on the other side of the field. Moved the plane over yesterday afternoon. Excited to have my own space!

    Electric Tugs

I just bought one of these for my 182. While I have no doubt besttugs may be the best my problem was the cost and my mission was simple. I simply needed to go straight out or straight into my hangar (about 20 foot lead in) and then a slight turn onto the taxiway (or off when pushing back in)...

    Giant TFR over cape canaveral?

Correct! But it’s nothing new for manned launches to have this. The shuttle had the exact same size TFR during its launches. This is normal for manned launches dating back to at least the last few years of the shuttle launch.

Need some advice. What would I request from ATC in this case?

My house is inside the inner ring of a C that I’m based at. If I want to fly over an area inside the C I just simply tell them what I’m trying to do. I’ll say something like “approach (insert tail number) my house is located just inside your airspace about (insert direction and miles from the...

    T-hangars near Plano

the airport I’m based at prohibits not aviation use of a T hangar. Several airports in my area are doing the same thing. I actually had to prove I had a plane to even lease my hangar. So some airports are cracking down on this.

Shopping for next plane, help wanted

I have a 182T. Went with new in 2012 for the reasons you listed above. I like new stuff and was a bit more worry free the first few years while it was under warranty. If affording it is possible I wouldn’t think twice about going that route Just for your own statistics mine was fully optioned...

Cessena TTx from FXE (Fort Lauderdale) to KTEB (New Jersey)

You're going to have a hard time finding a TTx at a reasonable price, especially in todays market as they technically didnt make the "TTx" for very long. You'd have more luck expanding your search to include the Columbia 400 which i believe is the same thing? Someone correct me if I'm wrong...

Cessena TTx from FXE (Fort Lauderdale) to KTEB (New Jersey)

that’s a fairly blanket statement. I’ve been fortunate that my 182 does consistently 5 knots better than the book for any given power setting at about .3-.5gph Lower burn than any given setting in the book when flying it per the book procedures even when fully loaded I’ve flown many planes that...

Cessena TTx from FXE (Fort Lauderdale) to KTEB (New Jersey)

You have to keep in mind you need to go the distance plus have sufficient reserves, especially when flying into the NY area I'd have a little extra padding. Realistically doing this nonstop both directions is probably not likely year round, typically those max range are at much slower speeds...

Can you learn in any plane?

The short answer is yes you can learn in any plane is it a smart idea? That is a different question as you can see from the many responses above. The learning curve will be greater of course, especially when adding a second engine. Something to consider as well as while you could buy a twin...

    Night currency with co pilot?

I see this type of thing all the time with people asking logging certain ways in a single pilot plane, and one part I feel always gets overlooked, maybe I’m wrong, but the airplane is type certificated for single pilot. Assuming you don’t have an FAA OpSec authorizing dual pilot (PIC/SIC)...

    Red Bull Tunnel

totally off topic but interesting that is a McDonnell Douglas, and has the MD11 wing, but the DC10 tailcone. I wonder how early in testing this was cause that’s not the final fuselage design shape for the tailcone

PIREPS on KSAN - San Diego International…

I’ve flown into SAN with my airline job several times and every time I’m there, there is a significant amount of GA traffic on the ground (single pistons) so I’d imagine they must be pretty GA friendly. Can’t beat the location as far as proximity to downtown and all the touristy stuff in the area!

question about my career palnning? Sky West

I never meant the two follow eachother at all. And my point in recommending a discovery flight was it simply may spark a more profound interest in pursuing it, or it may be a you know what not for me moment.
