Test Pilot time: Short field landings.

The idea of reaching a certain speed on the runway and measure the braking under different configurations sounds like the best option. It takes out so many variables.

    Your guilty pleasure (food)

I normally eat in moderation, have pretty solid will power, and generally stay away from sugar and carbs, but if you put out a tray of rice krispie bars I just can't say no.

    Bismarck Air Medical crash, 11/18/2018

I’m fairly local to this one as well and also heard the debris field was 3/4 of a mile. I can’t believe that weather was a factor. Can an engine explode to this degree? Ignition of the gas? Oxygen on board? This one hurts... RIP.

Wings of Hope Fall 2018 Raffle airplane announced

All you are doing is putting the situation on trial in the court of public opinion. Your stated intent is to impact public opinion. I suspect you intent is monetary, but that’s not what you said.

Wings of Hope Fall 2018 Raffle airplane announced

You are making a whole bunch of legal conclusions that may or may not correct. You may be 100% correct or 100% wrong. Frankly, I'm surprised they responded for your request for payment 2 years after having the plane with anything but, "sorry there are issues, but once we turn over the keys we...

Wings of Hope Fall 2018 Raffle airplane announced

The offer/acceptance issue would come down to the minutia of the communications to determine if you and WoH had a binding contract with sufficiently clear terms and a meeting of the minds. Whether that happened is anyone's guess.

Wings of Hope Fall 2018 Raffle airplane announced

If you had an annual and nothing was noted I don't think WoH had any duty to pay for anything. Sounds like they were unaware of any damage and didn't intentional or negligently misrepresent the aircraft. Unfortunate situation for sure.

Wings of Hope Fall 2018 Raffle airplane announced

How many annuals were done when you owned the plan? You indicate you had a few service items along the way. Nobody caught this issue? I have a feeling that if you had purchased this aircraft you'd likely just be stuck.

Beverly MA, 17 YO student pilot lands after wheel fell off.

So in this situation what is the proper thing to do with the landing? Just standard landing on centerline as slow as possible? Land at a bit of an angle as I’d guess you’ll get pulled hard in the direction of the offed wheel?

    [NA]Texas car sale[NA]

Yep, plates belong to the owner (every state that I have checked). If you drive with the old plates you can/will be charged with fictitious plates/registration. Usually the back of the registration card is filled out and taped in the window as the temporary registration. For liability reasons...

Is CFI required to be present during cross-country solo flights?

OVERTq - I've read all the posts. I don't find your examples provide any benefit to the solo pilot. I don't, and apparently most here, don't see the value of having the CFI being at the airport. If the CFI isn't in close enough proximity to manipulate the controls it makes no difference where...

Is CFI required to be present during cross-country solo flights?

I went over the plan with my CFI the day before. Texted him when I was pulling the plane out the next morning. He texted back to have fun and let me know when I'm back. I sent a picture from an airport along the way and another when I landed at home. I have no idea what benefit he would have...

Student Pilot with 2 hours of instruction takes off and crashes C-172

I assume the club who owns the plane has conditions on the use of the plane. If so, this was unauthorized use and is absolutely theft from a legal perspective. If I give my neighbor permission to use my car to run to the store, and he instead heads out on a cross-country trip that is theft...

    Engine out thought

Into the 25 knot wind your GS in going to be very small. Downwind it will be much higher. Even if you gauge it wrong, and land short, as long as you fly it to the ground you should have a great chance of walking away.

Could we do an "outside turn" in our spam cans?

There was an air show guy that would do a 360 clockwise turn while doing counter clockwise rolls. Thinking of the required inputs makes my head hurt.

    Musical covers - dead ringers

There was a short lived show called "Cover Wars." There were 3 cover bands and they'd be told a song while standing on stage and be given something like a minute or two to talk it out and then they'd perform it. Some bands were awesome, some not so much. I thought the concept was cool...
