LLCs for personal-use planes: tax return practices

I wish I’d come across this thread earlier but I’ll still try to answer. I'm part of a three pilot “partnership” which is in the form of an LLC, so it’s a three member LLC. While some may disagree, I believe this does offer some protection to members B and C if member A does something...

Redundant "traffic" and other annoyances . . .

As we've ventured far outside aviation here… the loan vs. lend comments reminded me of a different but related word, “hire.” In the U.K., they like to use “hire” as a synonym for “rental”, as in “I’ll get a BMW from the car hire place” or “I hired a car so we can drive to Liverpool.” They seem...

Redundant "traffic" and other annoyances . . .

Then there's the eternal quest for "good paying jobs" (should be "well-paying jobs") which seems to have been adopted by politicians of all stripes as they pander to the illiterate.

GFC 500 Autopilot Essentials eLearning Course, Review?

Absolutely agree. The Sporty's course uses G5's and a different Garmin navigator than we have, but it was all similar enough to our (new) Gi-275s and GNC 355 that it was still really helpful as an introduction. But there is no substitute for flying with, and receiving training on, the actual...

GFC 500 Autopilot Essentials eLearning Course, Review?

Replying a little late, but I did take that course and thought it was well worth the $30. I’ve been flying for a quarter century but never had a plane with an autopilot until now, so I needed and wanted a bit of formal training. It taught me everything I need to know about the GFC 500.

    ForeFlight Question about Altitude

This is an ancient post, but thought I’d point out that ForeFlight now allows you to do exactly what you wanted. You can set an altitude for each individual waypoint. This is a really helpful feature when traversing complex airspace where you need to change altitude several times.

    NorCal avionics shops

Thanks, I definitely hope you will post about your experience after you get your plane back, and I'll try to remember to hit you up about it. Baker Avionics wasn't on my radar so it's nice to have another referral. I think you'll be very happy with Art Craft, and Teresa and Brenda there are...

    NorCal avionics shops

Still haven’t taken the plunge… we were about to, and then discovered some new areas of corrosion starting and decided we really couldn’t wait any longer and needed to get the plane repainted without any more delay. Roughly $20 grand later, the plane looks beautiful (I have only good things to...

    Swift Forever Avgas STC

Either the GAMI G100UL or Swift's UL100 will be a better long term solution for sure, as either has the potential to replace 100LL completely. But they are both several years from being approved for all planes AND before they will have anything approaching general availability. I imagine that...

    Swift Forever Avgas STC

So to resurrect an old thread... Swift announced an expansion of their distribution network, which leads me to wonder if I should buy the STC for my Grumman. https://www.flyingmag.com/story/news/swift-expands-california-ul94-distribution/ I am based at KSQL, which according to earlier messages...

    NorCal avionics shops

There's a very old post (from 2012) here talking about San Francisco Bay Area avionics shops. I'd love to update that information with peoples' recommendations for, and (if applicable) against, avionics shops in Northern California. I fly a Grumman Tiger based at San Carlos, we are looking to...
