    Fuel Calculation

Misprints aren’t as bad as blatantly incorrect physics in a Jeppesen textbook.

    Ordered new Tecnam P2010

Yes. I can’t think of anything negative to say about her.

Getting my CSEL in a Cessna 150

To me, doing your commercial in a C150 is like doing your IR in a plane without GPS in 2022. You do it to save money or to brag about it later.

    ATP Upper Age Limit?

When an airline pilot turns 65, their ATP certificate goes full circle and becomes a student pilot certificate again. Unless they are a former military pilot… not sure what happens then.

    Vx and Vy

On what basis? It was a good catch by dtuuri but not really obvious from the OP.

    Angel Flight

Just make sure you're really talking to Angel Flight and not some scammer!

    Vx and Vy

I was actually thinking about this. For the Warrior I trained in, Vx was 63 knots. Suppose after liftoff near mountains I was climbing for a while at 58 knots, and then my instructor told me, "pitch for Vx, you're too slow." Wouldn't that be a case where going faster would allow me to climb...

My Discovery Flight, and a bazillion questions.

Thinking too much is bad when you're in mid swing trying to hit a golf ball. Thinking too much about how to make life-or-death decisions is rarely a real problem when flying a chair on the ground.

    Vx and Vy

I think one way to help visualize this is to look at an extreme case. Although not true for the planes that we here mostly fly, some planes have powerful engines that provide thrust larger than the weight of the airplane. In such a case, Vx is somewhat obviously achieved by pitching the...

My Discovery Flight, and a bazillion questions.

I've noticed multiple instructors (between this story, personal experience, and elsewhere) advise the student not to "overthink it" and I really don't understand what that even means. It seems like a poor step for an instructor to take.

the Turbo 182 is back in production

Nobody. I was playing along with the joke.

the Turbo 182 is back in production

AVWeb article updated with base price for any who care (presumably there is no overlap between those who care and those who will actually buy it new): "At a base price of $653,000..." https://www.avweb.com/aviation-news/turbo-skylane-returns-to-textron-lineup/

the Turbo 182 is back in production

Based on a 6% interest rate and this guess: $3,508.83 You could shorten the loan to 600 months and the payment only goes up to $3,684.83. I would absolutely love a new 182T but based on these $ no way in hell.... unless my long-lost Uncle Jeff Bezos dies or something.

    Commercial License - How Hard?

I found the commercial maneuvers a bit harder than instrument approaches to nail down. Commercial was also an exhausting effort overall (141).

    Pilot written

You should be able to perform pen and paper weight and balance calculations for a simple airplane. You won't need to write it out by hand every time you go flying as a private pilot, though. Your textbook should walk you through how to do it, with your instructor as backup to help you out if...

    Pilot written

It sounds like you have the major items already covered. Once you are further along you can start doing practice exam questions to see how they feel. For the oral, you will want to do a thorough study of the POH for the plane and you may want to watch some sample orals online and read the oral...

    Ordered new Tecnam P2010

It's been amazing to follow this story. I am starting to look into (i.e., research) getting my plane but I just don't see how I could muster the $ to swing a new P2010. I'll probably have to settle for an LSA or very old used plane (but even those are so expensive now). Good luck with pickup...

CP flying for compensation for fractional aircraft owner?

Any idea what % of the time your father in law would be operating the plane (likely with you flying it for compensation)?

Flying light sport airplane outside sport rules?

I was under the impression that 120 kts was generally not Vne for an LSA. Some LSAs are only capable for doing 120 kts level, but you may be allowed to go well above 120 kts while descending.

VFR into IMC - nothing like training

My first experience with unexpected IMC was when I was trying to get back into my airport after scattered clouds were starting to close in and thicken up faster than I expected. While seeing if I could poke into my home field, I found my visibility rapidly decreasing. I turned away and...
