Pilot Awarded $300K for False Arrest

Sometimes LE will do sting operations where they check hotel registries looking for people with warrants. It's not an exact science and personally I don't believe it's the right way to go about it, but it happens. If they get enough info to make them think they might have a hit, they will go...

Pilot Awarded $300K for False Arrest

There seems to be a pilot, an attorney and a jury who awarded $300K that disagree with you.

    FAA vs NTSB for investigations

No kidding? Well why don't they just call it the Final NTSB report? I'm not sure why you're so defensive, I didn't mean to step on your toes. I'm just telling you what I've seen on more than one occasion, from my own personal, on site experience and photographs taken at the scene. I'm not...

    FAA vs NTSB for investigations

Yes I am aware of and understand these things, thus my comment about laziness or ineptness, or perhaps as you suggest, they're just too busy to truly do a thorough job. Also, as you know, just because 2 different people attended the same class, does not mean they are both going to be equal. A...

    FAA vs NTSB for investigations

I agree as well, per my previous statement, that the NTSB is far superior to the FAA and generally do a much more thorough investigation. I recall many of the details of what I saw, as well as having photographs, but it has been 25-30 years ago. I don't recall dates or months.

Cirrus SR-22 crashed into house, Upland CA. KCCB Airport.

Ok, so you are saying that the helicopter in the photo you posted has a ballistic parachute system installed on it and you are further saying that the container is visible in the photo. So my question remains, where is this container located and if its anywhere other than on top of the mast...

Mine could pull it off in the airplane, not a chance in the helicopter.

    FAA vs NTSB for investigations

I said, "accident investigation". Nothing to do with criminal investigation. Regardless, when you see 100 feet of skid marks across the ground and then a mangled mess, and the FAA reports the pilot caught a skid while hovering, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to know that just doesn't add...

Cirrus SR-22 crashed into house, Upland CA. KCCB Airport.

I'm confused. Are you implying this helicopter has a parachute on it? Where is it? It's not on the top of the rotor head so anywhere else, what keeps it from being shredded on deployment? The only one I'm aware of was the zephir and I'm not sure what happened with that project.

    FAA vs NTSB for investigations

Doc, the FAA and the NTSB may not be as qualified as you'd like to think in accident investigation, although I do put more weight behind the NTSB. Throughout the 80s and 90s, being in law enforcement, and specifically trained in accident investigation, and a team leader on mountain rescue teams...

    Cold weather starting

How times have changed. I flew with the Polaris CAP in the 90s and 2000s and we were always the first responders. Apparently the 406 has changed that. Those were great times, had a great fleet of aircraft to fly and super, super cheap. And of course if it was an actual mission or training...

In his defense, at least for me, and I hope others on here, we'd like to think of this as more than just the 'interwebz'. We'd like to think of this as a community, with the very real possibility of one day getting to meet each other and meeting new friends with the same interests. I have...
