    Defund police helicopters.

The absurd fallacy is that you think simply obtaining the plate number is somehow going to identify the actual driver of the vehicle and that some how negates the police actually doing their job and catching the person committing the crimes, because we all know, no one ever drives a car that...

Ok, I was really hoping common sense would prevail and we wouldn't have to go here.. but... ...you seem to think that this is some kind of utopian discovery that some how will magically make pursuits a thing of the past... Follow along in this senario. I steal YOUR car, commit a bunch of...

Pilot needing a kick in the pants...

If you really wanted to fly, you'd be flying. If you really don't want to fly, you're probably not going to fly. Pretty simple. Is it the flying you're not excited about, or is it flying in that plane that you're not excited about?

    Defund police helicopters.

I'm just waiting to see what happens when the first social worker responding to a 911 call gets killed. Do these people (those for defunding) realize that Fire wont even roll up on a potentially dangerous scene until police arrive and secure it?

    Defund police helicopters.

Well, in my experience, I would say, if that's the case, they (or you) are working for the wrong operator. The good operators offer excellent salaries or daily rates, (some even offer both) for skilled pilots, plus flight pay on top of that, plus per diem, plus extended pay for Gov contract...

    Defund police helicopters.

You are correct, they do. It's pretty common in larger cities where they have both police and news flying. You're also probably correct in assuming this is what the OP was referring to, but he didn't make it clear, and sounded as though he thought this was some kind of regulation. As you...

    Defund police helicopters.

Absolutely correct. Very few departments pay pilots that well, and even when they do pay decent, it's no where near what you can make flying helicopters in the private sector or some gov contract work.

    Defund police helicopters.

What a great idea. How come no one has ever thought of that before?

    Defund police helicopters.

My guess is that was just a fluke... they were probably already in the process of getting ready to go... because 1 minute is just not a reasonable response time even if you're already sitting in the helicopter. It takes time to put your seatbelt and harness on, put your helmet on, start up 1...

    Defund police helicopters.

There's no question that they provide a service and substantial aid to law enforcement on any department. The only debatable question is if they provide enough of a benefit to offset the cost.

    The cost of an error

And herein lies the problem. Quite regularly, competent pilots fly perfectly good aircraft into the ground, and I'd imagine most of these pilots are "reasonable people". So the solution to make sure there is a consequence for doing this, is to sue the company. The company who applied every...

Flying with frost on the plane

Yes, in some places. It's not like it used to be. The Feds have been jumping all over this for the last 20 years. Same problems with helicopters too. We used to tie all kinds of cargo on the skids. Just not like it used to be.

Oh the good ole days. We also used to fly with sheets of plywood and canoes tied to the struts.
