Buying an SR22 to train in

I'm a 22 owner, not an expert, but here are my thoughts: 1. If you know you will follow through and if you know you will want to own a 22 in the future I'd consider it. 2. Train with a CSIP. They are trained to teach in the Cirrus. I flew with a DPE non CSIP and he didn't teach me critical...

    My airplane statistics....

Interesting thing is I have about 150ish. One guy, a professional pilot partner, has about 35, and another has the balance. The thing that's cool is there has never been issues with scheduling. It's working out great.

    My airplane statistics....

my LLC purchased the Cirrus 48 weeks ago. It was in the shop - 2 weeks for an avionics upgrade, about 1.5 weeks for a chute repack, 2 weeks for an annual, 3 weeks for miscellaneous reasons, so about 8 weeks total. We've flown her 420 hours since purchase. We have 3 members of our LLC...

Help me with Instrument Written Question

So you get one point for this question that I shed 15 minutes to compute as opposed to one point for the what causes weather question. The correct solution is to memorize that damn answer and move on as I have avionics and apps that compute this fast. Wasting time is not good CDM.

Anyone else following the young pilot in the FB groups? PPL to 777 in 3 months?

I only follow his exploits on a page called "uncontrolled airspace". Run by some dude that makes videos about his "Commander" aircraft.

    Garmin GTN750, or Avidyne IFD540?

The IFD has all that plus much more. Installed the 540 and 440 in my SR22. The interface with Foreflight is coming in September without having to pay an extra $1,250. I used the 650 and like the 540/440 much better. The Geofill is great.

    IFR Written... nerves!

I had to retake the written b c mine expired. Got a 92. Know GPS and approach plates inside out. Ignore adf, ndb and marker beacon questions. Get ASA and Bob Gardner books. Work through all questions. Took me 3 weeks to go through all questions, but I work 50+ Hour weeks. Good luck.

Where do you complete your run-up?

To me it depends on situation. First preference - If there is a run up ramp by the runway, i will do it there. If there is a spot on the ramp where the blast is away from other airplanes, people and buildings, I will go to that spot. I generally like to be ready to go at the hold short line...
