    Fatal Cub Crash, WI

Prelim: https://data.ntsb.gov/carol-repgen/api/Aviation/ReportMain/GenerateNewestReport/103599/pdf Interesting section to note: The pilot receiving instruction reported that they had been practicing touch-and-go takeoffs and landings from runway 27 at the Hartford Municipal Airport (HXF) and...

    Student Engine Out Goes Right

I don't want to sound overly critical, so all I will say is I'm glad the field wasn't too soft because he came in HOT :) Great outcome on this one nonetheless.

    7-4 Bonanza down near Aspen

Prelim is out. Pilot was given a IFR clearance of 16k, acknowledged he couldn't climb to 16k and instead took off VFR. Tower asked which pass they would be taking, and pilot responded that they would decide in the air. Major ADM issues here. What's flight planning...

3 of the 4 passengers are being treated for back injuries, ouch. Glad everyone survived though.

Cessna T210M down in Eastern Iowa, fatal

That's a good analysis. If I recall, there is only 1 "pole length" of wires that are underground across the street, correct? If so, it wouldn't take much being off course to the left to clip the pole or wires where they begin again. I might drive by after work to see if evidence of pole being...

Cessna T210M down in Eastern Iowa, fatal

This one hit close to home as I live only a few miles from the accident location. Witnesses say the airplane was taking off from Green Castle Aero Club, which is a private airport just north of the accident location (less than a mile). Reports are there are downed power wires as well. This...

    Bo down Pembroke Pines, FL

When it hit the car, the amount of fuel spill was incredible (paused at 4 second mark). I'm assuming that was full tanks.

    Mags or No Mags?

Did you watch the video in the first post? The key was in the same position the entire time, from liftoff to landing. Looking at photos from the sale listing and watching the video, that switch was certainly in the OFF position.

PA 28-235 Down in Illinois, 4 Dead, 5/31/2020

Yup agree. Next question is what caused the sudden decent rate and resulting overload.

PA 28-235 Down in Illinois, 4 Dead, 5/31/2020

This was the initial wreckage layout, approximately 450 ft between all the major components.

PA 28-235 Down in Illinois, 4 Dead, 5/31/2020

Fairly certain that image is not how the wreckage was found. Look at the wreckage diagram. Some was near the pond, some on the other side of the barn, etc. In my opinion that image was the pieces all placed back together after they were documented at their original location, to show that...

PA 28-235 Down in Illinois, 4 Dead, 5/31/2020

That was my thought. And the fluttering would cause it to land much further than just a few hundred feet from the rest of the components. They are fairly high during the initial maneuver.

PA 28-235 Down in Illinois, 4 Dead, 5/31/2020

Once NTSB takes the initial photos in situ, they move the pieces. I think what happened is once photos were taken in situ, they moved everything and laid it out. That's a good point, if the wing separated at the spar I would definitely expect it to stay in 1 piece. The way they BOTH separated...

PA 28-235 Down in Illinois, 4 Dead, 5/31/2020

I don't think that's how the wreckage was found. Look at the wreckage diagram to see exactly where all the major parts landed.

PA 28-235 Down in Illinois, 4 Dead, 5/31/2020

Given the altitude (5600') I would think if a wing separated it would be further than just a couple hundred feet from the rest of the wreckage, but that is pure speculation. We could compare the data to known in-flight breakups to see what the common distance is.

PA 28-235 Down in Illinois, 4 Dead, 5/31/2020

NTSB just published the prelim. All major components were located in the 455ft debris field. Also NTSB depicts a left 360 turn followed quickly by a tight 360 right before impacting ground / end of data points. A couple good images in the prelim, and also mention of a GoPro that is being...
