    Cirrus accident, Knoxville, TN 12/16/21

The chute must have done something, as the passenger was still able to pull the pilot from the wreckage. I can't imagine that'd be possible if they hit the ground inverted/out of control.

    Taylorcraft down California

The data is UTC time. The flight posted was in the early to late afternoon.

    Taylorcraft down California

Look at the track data, there is a ~2.5 hr gap between going out into SF Wilderness and then coming back (flew out at 1900 came back at 2130). Considering it was at night, I'm skeptical that this was a pickup operation. Edit - wait, is that UTC time? Does anyone know? I am not familiar at all...

Glad someone shared this, I got a good laugh from it. The altimeter was new to me, didn't realize that one.

    Train vs plane

Looking at how beat up that Cessna was, saying it "landed" on the tracks could be debatable. Looks like it fell on the tracks. Glad for the outcome though, those officers rock!

Another interesting part from that article: "Sources inside the Lompoc airport said it appeared Jacob never intended to make the full journey to Mammoth. They described the aircraft as in a state of disrepair and in need of major maintenance. Jacob attempted to complete a few fixes on his own...

I meant to add a caveat to my statement... no idea where CG would have been!

    Cherokee down presidio county, TX

It's a 235. If the people were on the smaller size it was likely still within useful load (1450lbs).

    Navajo crash - Medford OR

The flight track looks like a textbook graveyard spiral.

    Cessna down at KUKI

Agree with others, on the surface this one doesn't look like your typical fatal accident. Really curious to hear the configuration they find the seat belts in.

    HELP! Insurance Claim Denial

Agree, I own a Piper Cherokee and I get asked T/W time every year during renewal. Same with M/E time (neither of which apply to a single engine Cherokee).

Is Dan Gryder the biggest asset to aviation on youtube?

Dan was adamant in his video this week that the MD87 "flew" to the crash site, yet there are skid marks from the last 500' of runway all the way to the crash site. Juan correctly pointed this out in his video.

UND Plane down in ND - 1 fatality

Not much to be heard on KGFK Approach LiveATC. Sioux 20 cancelled VFR flight following at around 17:45 mark (about 7:17pm). Can see he changed squawk from 4545 to 1200 around that time. Flight aware track then ends at 7:23pm.

Look at the times. There is a 20 min gap in the data points between the midfield and departure end of runway.

    TBM700 down, Urbana, OH

Looks like the initial descent started a couple miles east of Hardin County Airport, I95. 4800 ft runway. There was also an airport 18nm to the northwest with a 6000 ft runway. Based on a POH I found online, from 20k feet the max glide distance is about 25nm which includes a more rapid initial...
