I kept trying to land it myself while at my desk. Could see it not gaining altitude and ground coming up faster than he was climbing. Once he was over the trees I think he knew it was too late as he tried to turn...probably making things worse. I am sure this was the pressure to not...

Articles indicate he had over 20000 hours which seems almost impossible. It also states that he was demoted to from the Captain position and was flying copilot. A very embarrassing situation as he failed the sim. Lastly the Captain was the guy that failed him on the sim.

All good details. Thanks. However one of the flying instructions to new pilots and I forget where I read this. Do not fly over smoke stacks that are active as heat can generate turbulence and visibility can be reduced. Coming out of a cloud into this can be very distracting.

So many things can cause us to be a bit off on an approach. Flying is dangerous despite what we tell ourselves....but having idiots built silos on a Non Precision LNAV approach seems moronic. MDA is 4560 and the silos are 4405. That is not much room for error and a young lady lost her life.

That's terrible. Why the heck would they build tower structures on approach, so close to the runway. Family is right. Someone should answer for their decision. Condolences.

I was looking at the logbook. Less than 100hrs total time and only about 20hrs on high performance. One of his last flights on 5/24 and his second to last entry...he logged "Steep" turns practice. Ughhh...tough to see that.

What? Come-on some of the guys here tried on their flight simulators and did a better job keeping plane on runway with blown tires, blindfolded. Give it a day and Dan will also have a YouTube Video on this.

Dan already solved this one. I think were done here. He indicated that there is no way for that 737 to fly like that without pilot inputs. Ok now from actual 737/jet drivers is that true?
