You best not forget to do a weight and balance or you may not ever see the pattern :) ;)

Stunning Video: Non-Cirrus Comes Down Under Chute

PA32... comes down quickly is heavy and sinks even with power. You dont have as much range as you think..I have found its more like a brick compared to a smaller PA28. Chute would be nice. Especially if loss of power happens at night.

KWVI Watsonville MId Air, Multiple Fatalities

This discussion and accident have taught me quite a bit. That 20 pilots discussing the same topic each have their own interpretation of rules and FAA suggestions and their own method of landing. That is scary and the fact that we dont have a unified method is why this happened. Some criticized...

LMAO. Example why we have accidents. Most in GA have regular ground jobs and think arguing the rules and winning the argument will result in a safe flight. It may, until another thinks he is right and damn be the other. … unlike the ground based workplace, in the air its damn be both. Lets...

The students are a reflection of their instructors. If what you say is true that is not an airport I ever want to fly into or would want my kids learning at. My instructor spent a good amount of time with me not just focusing on hitting the numbers on touchdown but making sure I get there alive...

I agree with almost everything but the statement above. It sounds good but it is factually and statistically false. Towers have a much lower accident rate. And would be very useful in very congested areas.

KWVI Watsonville MId Air, Multiple Fatalities

Thats a bit insulting to the 152 Pilot. Such unsubstantiated inflammatory comment! Like others have said both may have had their reasons we dont know what they were. Its also possible he was not expecting a straight in fast plane. He may have simply turned base because he was “locked in”...

If ones plane is such that they cant stay in a traffic pattern at the airport they are landing then perhaps find an alternate if the pattern is busy. Rather than get creative or comit suicide/homocide by jumping in front of other planes burning the pattern. Just like a small slow plane would...

I 100% agree. I think instructors should teach that. Ive come into non towered airports, one nasty busy one was in Louisville KJVY where the pattern was super crowded with students. It was wild west. Some where entering downwind via midfield some on the 45 and one came in straight another did...

KWVI Watsonville MId Air, Multiple Fatalities

This is an example of why we need yet more rules. With just a guidance on the pattern different instructors teach different things. Some may tell their students its ok to straight in. You have priority if youre on final. My PPL and Instrument instructors said never ever go straight in where...

Thats assuming that everyone in the pattern knows what a C340 is or that he is doing warp 4. I may change my habits but Im just listening to where you are around the field and not exact plane type while I am busy getting ready to land. If I hear Cessna gonna tune out the rest. Cirrus yeah a...

KWVI Watsonville MId Air, Multiple Fatalities

How I feel. Wow. Even if you are on IFR plan. Its VFR man and the pattern is full. Slow down and dont cut in line. I have told flights on long straight ins to get in line. The 152 Pilot was so polite just trying to do his training. RIP. Its such a basic violation of our code…. to save...

Aerostar600 Crash South Haven Township, Michigan

Thanks. That was very educational on the Aerostar. Didnt know much about the aircraft. Sounded like many of the fatals weee due to engine out on Takeoff although I would guess that is the case for many twins. Their crash seems to have been shortly after takeoff.
